The superstars of Juventus gave a glimpse into their changing room celebrations as they staged the most unlikely of comebacks against Atletico Madrid.
Cristiano Ronaldo hit an emphatic hat-trick as the Italian giants got the three goals required to take a 3-2 aggregate victory and book their place in the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
A late penalty, expertly converted by the Portugal superstar, soon saw waves of jubilation spill across the Juventus stadium.
Juventus players began the party in the dressing room following their incredible comeback
Piling into the dressing room, the Juve players amassed for a huge team photo with smiles from ear to ear.
Several of the players quickly took to social media to pepper the image across the internet, sharing it with their millions upon millions of followers and enjoying their moment in the limelight.
Speaking following the final whistle, veteran defender Leonardo Bonucci insisted his side always ‘respond on the pitch.’
‘This is a great night for the Juventus population. Many things were said, both after that game and over the last few days, but Juve always respond on the pitch,’ Bonucci told Sky Sport Italia.
‘We had four chances and put three of them in. They did the same in the first leg, having two chances and scoring both.
‘We put our cojones into this match. Atleti were missing players, but so were we, and Leonardo Spinazzola put in a great performance in an incredible atmosphere. The Stadium crowd really was our 12th man tonight,’ he added.
Juve quite literally did put their ‘cojones’ into the contest, with hat-trick hero Ronaldo replicating the controversial celebration which was performed by Atletico manager Diego Simeone in the first leg.
Cristiano Ronaldo was the star of the show and controversially mimicked Diego Simeone
After Atleti defender Jose Maria Gimenez scored the first goal late on in a 2-0 win in the Spanish capital first-leg tie, Simeone had grabbed his crotch area while facing in the direction of the crowd.
As Juve were crowned victors on Tuesday evening Ronaldo did the same thing while facing in the direction of the Atleti supporters, and it now remains to be seen whether governing body UEFA will take action.
Following Simeone’s actions in the first-leg, a £17,000 fine was imposed.
