Instacart customer’s demanding list of instructions, rules, requirements appalls social media users

An Instacart customer’s very demanding list of instructions has appalled social media users, who are insisting that anyone with that many rules should just do their own grocery shopping.

Violetta Le’Mone, an Instacart delivery driver based in the U.S., was stunned when she saw that a customer had left paragraphs upon paragraphs of directions while recently placing an order.

Instacart is a company that allows customers to order groceries from any participating store, and an Instacart contractor will do their shopping for them, delivering the items right to their front door.

But this customer – whose name is unknown – was very specific about the way she wanted her shopping done, dictating that that the shopper must use insulated cooling bags, send a photo as proof, respond to messages promptly, and even bag the groceries according to her instructions.

Violetta shared a screenshot of the many requirements that the customer left on TikTok, and it quickly went viral – leaving many viewers disgusted with her ‘high maintenance’ requests.

The customer began the note by telling her shopper to use insulated cooling bags for her products – and asked them to send her a photo of the bags before beginning her order, so that she could make sure they were really using them.

‘Please send me a photo of your insulated cooling bags in your shopping cart IMMEDIATELY before shopping otherwise I will call Instacart promptly and cancel this order to reschedule with a different shopper,’ the note read.

‘If you don’t have the insulated cooling bags or enough of them to keep my food items temperature controlled, or you do have the insulated cooling bags, but only plan on using them during delivery then DON’T PICK UP MY ORDER.

‘Some shoppers leave their cooling bags in their car and only use them during delivery. That’s not acceptable. I want my foods kept safe in insulated cooling bags during shopping and delivery.’

The customer also said she does not want a driver who plans on doing multiple orders at once, and used all-caps words to stress the point.

‘If you are doing batch orders then DON’T PICK UP MY ORDER. I’ve had too many groceries spoil because it takes longer to do batch shopping,’ she continued.

The woman appeared to have left more instructions regarding each item and where she wanted them placed in the bag, however, those were not pictured in the video.

She continued in her message, ‘After you send the insulated cooling bag’s photo, please respond to my messages promptly while shopping and follow my shopping/bagging/delivery instructions per item, especially if I have chicken, meats, and milk in my order.

‘Please make sure after checkout that my items are bagged properly per my instructions since the grocery bagger won’t know what they are.

‘Too many times other times have been bagged in with the raw meat/chicken plus I’ve had bagging issues with other foods.’

She also requested that if an item she wanted was unavailable, the shopper must contact her before making any replacements, due to her ‘severe’ food allergies.

‘I have SEVERE food allergies so please DON’T make any replacements without checking with me first,’ she said.

‘I might need a product photo before approving it to look up the product’s ingredients.

‘This will take a few minutes on my end. I usually already have replacements chosen or have “don’t replace an item” checked or I’ll write it in the instructions if I’m allergic to it, but many times the Instacart app has deleted my replacements/instructions unbeknownst to me after I place my order.’

Commenters were unamused by the woman’s long list of requirements, arguing that anyone who is this particular about the way their shopping is done should simply do their own shopping.

‘She has no business using Instacart,’ one person wrote.

‘Ma’am just go shopping yourself, ain’t nobody got time for that,’ said another.

Someone else added: ‘I love Instacart as someone who is disabled and cannot drive. These kinds of people are so shameful. Thank you to all you Instacart folks.’

‘I would cancel immediately,’ a fourth comment read. ‘This is someone who 100 per cent needs to shop for themselves.’

‘I just know she ain’t gonna tip!’ wrote a different TikTok user. ‘And if there is a tip added at first she def removing it after the delivery is complete!’

‘I wouldn’t take the order,’ commented another. ‘I feel like she’s just going to text nonstop and not allow the shopper to do their job.’
