Instagram model on how she lost 15 kilos transformed body

An Instagram model who felt ‘uncomfortable’ in her own skin has revealed how she shed 15 kilos to transform her body.

Sydney-based Jadé Tuncdoruk, 22, spoke to Daily Mail Australia about how her diet choices impacted her physique.

‘I went from having chocolate milk, Maccas and chips every single day to only eating fruit and veg, rice crackers and healthy cereals or toast for breakfast,’ she said.

At Jadé’s heaviest she weighed 75 kilos and at her lightest she hovered around the 56 kilo mark.

‘I was 16 and still growing, there’s no way that I would be able to weigh that now.

‘It was a dramatic difference mainly because my sister and I hadn’t been putting the right foods into our bodies for so long.’

Jadé and her sister Yasmin both started their weight loss journey together, which meant they weren’t alone in which can sometimes be an isolating experience.

‘[We lost weight through] mainly eating, I didn’t exercise that much but I was quite young and your body changes a lot quicker when you’re younger.’

She explained that when she decided to lose weight she mainly did it through counting calories.

Jadé said that the pair, who were once eating approximately 1,900 calories, cut it down to to 1,000, but she ensures she was making sure she was getting enough nutrients and knows this approach isn’t healthy for everyone.

‘That meant we were eating a lot healthier foods but I did yoyo a few times,’ she said.

‘It’s taken me a while to get here, I’ve gained weight and lost it, gained weight and lost it,’ she stated.

‘I shared my weight loss images because I was just really proud of myself, it’s a big achievement.

‘I never thought I could do it, I wanted to put it out there because at the time there wasn’t much of that kind of content.’

‘I’ve gained a few kilos at the moment, I’m not the slimmest I’ve been but I’m at a place where I’m a lot happier in my skin and I’m not stressed about looking a certain way,’ she told Daily Mail Australia.

Although she does have to keep up a particular image for work, she doesn’t focus too much on it and makes sure that she is making healthy choices.

‘Weighing yourself every day is ridiculous, you could go to the toilet and weigh less.

‘It’s silly to be so pedantic about what you’re doing every single day, you end up stressing yourself out.’

Jadé doesn’t believe that this kind of behaviour is healthy or helpful when it comes to losing weight.

‘I feel like being healthy mentally is the most important thing and once you’re at a place where you’re comfortable and happy then you can focus on your body in a healthy way.

‘I’m now at a place where I know what the right thing to do is with my body, every body is different, it’s so important to get to know yours and how it works.’

‘To copy what someone else does is never going to work because everyone’s different,’ she said.

Now she is making healthy choices naturally, no longer weighs herself or counts calories and eats treats in moderation.

Her weight loss stemmed from her not feeling confident in her body, which was egged on by bullying she experienced as a kid.

‘I was bullied quite a bit growing up, I wasn’t that happy, the bullying was the main thing that led to my weight loss.

‘I did want to be fitter as well, I’d go to school carnivals and I felt like I couldn’t do things that other kids could do, I didn’t feel secure at all.

'This is my pathetic attempt at doing a sexy car photo six wines deep last night. I look like I just farted and am waiting for someone to realise,' she captioned this photo

‘Obviously when you’re younger kids aren’t educated yet so there’s a large emphasis placed on how you look, especially in this day and age, and I wasn’t feeling comfortable in my skin at that point in my life,’ she continued.

Jadé, who has 185,000 followers on her main Instagram account, was well known online beforehand.

She became an online star on her previous Tumblr account which is also where she shared her original weight loss pictures.

‘People connected with my account because, like I am now on my Instagram photos, I’m quite real, I’m honest and open about my life,’ she said.

‘People find that relatable, they come across other influencers where everything is a bit too perfect and they’re not honest about what’s really going on in their lives,’ Jadé explained.

‘When people see I’m a normal person going through every day normal life it’s more relatable.’

Jadé then moved her content onto Instagram and decided to stick with her honest and real approach.

Although her main account is pretty much what you would expect from an Insta-famous woman, which Jadé acknowledges, she recently started a second account to share more realistic images.

On her main account you are likely to see an array of well staged bikini photos

Her second account, therealjadetunchy, currently sits at 31,600 followers and was only started in June this year.

‘I started the account because there was a lack of influencers and role models for young women.

‘I was looking in the mirror and then looking at my own photos of myself saying “why don’t I look like that?”, it was screwing up my own mental image of myself.

‘I wanted to start it so people could see what life is really like, without the filters, without the bullsh*t and without the outfit I’ve literally chucked on for five minutes and will never wear again in my life.’

'I feel exactly how I look. Ps if anyone tries to tell me I "still look good" you're just a blatant fkn liar and a bad person and your friends shouldn't trust you,' this caption read

Her aim with the second account is to show what life is really like and the fact that level of perfection that’s all over Instagram these days isn’t necessarily real.

‘There’s been a really positive response. People are messaging me saying how inspired they are and that they haven’t felt confident in their skin until now.

‘This is exactly why I started it, I wanted to help people in a positive way.

‘I’m really glad I created it, if I could help even one person think differently then I feel like I’ve done my job.’

On one comparison photo of her derriere, her caption read: ‘I posted the butt pic on the left on @jadetunchy today.

‘It looked a lot nicer than it usually does so I was very excited – even though it’s still not the best butt pic in the world.

‘Anyway here’s a photo of what it looks like most of the time, nothing special at all!!,’ she wrote.

'The aliens are coming hope you guys are ready if not you can just run down to the store and grab some foil it's not too late'

‘Don’t look at one photo on Insta and assume people look that way 24/7. We are just normal people who just know how to pose strategically.’

Another image she shared was a photo of herself when she was sick with bags under her eyes which read: ‘I feel exactly how I look. Ps if anyone tries to tell me I “still look good” you’re just a blatant fkn liar and a bad person and your friends shouldn’t trust you.’

Although her captions are open and honest she understands that sometimes Instagram can still come across as unrealistic.

'Why do I look like someone's mum'

‘If you’re good looking its always going to be easier to gain followers.

‘If you’re reserved and hardly posting its going to be a lot harder to gain interest, the reason social media is so interesting is because you get insight to peoples lives that you normally wouldn’t.

‘On Instagram you post a caption about your day and people often find that interesting. If I wasn’t honest I wouldn’t have any followers.’

'Just me, my coffee and bumpy lil legs. Because this is who I am more often than not,' she captioned this photo on her second account

Jadé aims to let people in on her personal life to open up conversations and add a bit of humour into people’s day.

‘I would rather make myself more vulnerable to help other people.

‘I also love making people laugh, that’s another big reason why I started the account.’
