Ruben Amorim’s first match as Manchester United manager could hardly have gotten off to a better start.
Sunday’s game away at Ipswich Town was only 80 seconds old when Marcus Rashford found the net following a fine Amad Diallo assist.
But then came the reality check. Ipswich forced multiple saves out of Andre Onana before the Red Devils keeper was finally beaten by a long-range effort from Omari Hutchinson late in the first half.
There were no more goals after half-time but plenty of food for thought as Amorim watched on intently.
Here, Mail Sport’s CHRIS WHEELER delivers his report card from Amorim’s first assignment.
Ruben Amorim took charge of Man United for the first time as his side were held by Ipswich
United made an excellent start but Ipswich fought back and Amorim had to settle for a point
Marcus Rashford opened the scoring at Ipswich’s Portman Road after just 80 seconds of play
ANDRE ONANA A-
Two fantastic saves from Delap and solid distribution, but had no chance with Hutchinson’s deflected equaliser.
NOUSSAIR MAZRAOUI B
Played as the third centre-back in Amorim’s 3-4-3. Provided pace and was unlucky to get a nick on Hutchinson’s shot.
MATTHIJS DE LIGT B-
Arguably the only first-choice central defender to start, but had his hands full in a heavyweight match-up with Delap.
JONNY EVANS C
Calm presence at the back but lack of pace exposed at times and he was replaced by Shaw early in the second half.
AMAD DIALLO B+
Switched to right wing-back and made an instant impact with early assist. Less comfortable when made to defend.
CHRISTIAN ERIKSEN C
Had little impact on the game before going off. His place is likely to be most under threat now Mainoo is fit again.
CASEMIRO C
Picked ahead of Ugarte but replaced by the Uruguayan in the 56th minute as Amorim tried to take greater control of the game.

Casemiro was included in United’s starting XI but was subbed off in the 56th minute
Danish playmaker Christian Eriksen had little impact on the game before he came off
Sunday’s 1-1 draw left United 12th in the Premier League table with 16 points after 12 matches
DIOGO DALOT B
Solid on the left but won’t have to play there much longer with Shaw and Malacia back on the bench. Scuffed first-half chance at keeper.
BRUNO FERNANDES B+
United’s brightest creative spark in a wider role. Had a hand in the goal and went close with a late free kick.
MARCUS RASHFORD B-
Got the nod at centre-forward and scored after 120 seconds to give Amorim a dream start. Faded after that and has much more to give.
ALEJANDRO GARNACHO C
Started on the left and switched to the right, but couldn’t make the most of several chances to break clear on goal.
