Nearly 50,000 Spotify American users have issued outage reports to Downdetector, a site that monitors online services.

New York City, Los Angeles, Houston and Chicago have reported problems.

Spotify has acknowledged the outage, saying: ‘We’re seeing reports from users that the app isn’t loading properly or that they’re experiencing playback issues.

‘Others report that they’re having issues accessing the Support site.

Spotify users flocked to X to see if others were also experiencing issues.

Some joke about the outage, saying they are ‘switching to Apple Music since Spotify is down.’

‘Spotify down while at work… This is my 13th reason why,’ one user posted.

Another shared: ‘Yes spotify is down. Why having CDs, vinyls and Youtube is a must.’

Some users on social media said they could still play downloaded music but could not search or view artists on the app.

‘We’re aware of some issues right now and are checking them out,’ Spotify said in a post on social media platform X.

Downdetector shows 61 percent of problems stem from the app, 24 percent audio streaming and 15 percent of users reported issue with the website.
