Kanye West and Bianca Censori are said to have orchestrated speculation they are heading for divorce to create a buzz around his new album.
On Monday, multiple reports emerged the couple had secretly called it quits ‘weeks ago’, with the rapper, 47, reportedly ‘ready to divorce’ his wife, 29.
However, the duo were then pictured together in Japan just hours after split claims went public.
Now, sources close to the pair believe the speculation surrounding their nearly two-year marriage was a deliberate ploy to help build publicity around Kanye’s new album.
Late last month, Ye announced his new album Bully and debuted the song Beauty and the Beast during an event in China. He has also released his album Vultures 2 in August.

An insider told DailyMail.com: ‘They knew that, by doing this, it would create some buzz and make them relevant as he tries to promote his new album.
‘They both know that people are just over them and that her naked outfits are not enough to keep people interested. Everyone has seen her naked now there is nothing to wonder about.’
Bianca often makes headlines for wearing next to nothing in public while the American rapper completely covers himself while they are out and about.
The model has made a name for herself by stepping out in hosiery with no underwear underneath and daring bodysuits which barely cover her.
But now, the insider says they may have resorted to a new tactic to garner attention as people aren’t shocked anymore by her risque wardrobe.
They said: ‘Bianca overexploited her sexuality with his help and now no one cares. So they create some rumours that they are done, play into it by wiping socials and spending time apart and bam, they are back in the public interest.

On Monday, TMZ reported the rapper and his wife were ‘possibly’ planning to file for divorce.
The Yeezus rapper has been in China and Japan while Bianca was enjoying some time away in her native Australia.
Bianca shut down her Instagram account and Kanye also wiped his account of all images except for one, which was posted on February 28.
During this time, she had claimed to friends that she could no longer ‘ignore’ her family’s questions about the more troubling parts of their relationship.
‘They broke up some time ago,’ the source told DailyMail.com exclusively. ‘Bianca started to see the relationship in a new light when her friends and family voiced concerns about the way she was dressing in public and Kanye felt that she wasn’t as into him as she was in the beginning.’
Bianca was pictured with her sisters Alyssia and Angelina, and mother Alexandra, in mid August after they flew in to visit her in Los Angeles.
The controversial couple were reportedly already ‘drifting,’ but everything changed after their visit.
Bianca’s loved ones have frequently expressed their fears about how much she has allegedly changed since marrying the musician – with some going as far as staging an intervention.
DailyMail.com previously reported that her father Leo was keen to confront his son-in-law, with her parents said to be fearful that their daughter was a rebound.
Back in February, a source told DailyMail.com that Kanye’s ex-wife Kim had asked him to have his wife cover up when around their children.
‘Kim instructed Kanye to never let Bianca dress like that around their kids,’ they said. ‘She is truly surprised that Kanye would let his wife leave the house like that.
‘Kanye did the same thing he is doing with Bianca to Kim throughout their marriage. The difference is that when Kanye dressed Kim, he was respected as a person – as an artist.’
The rapper shares daughters North, 11, Chicago, six, and sons Saint, eight, and Psalm, five, with Kim.
