Isla Fisher & Sacha Baron Cohen show their support for Chris Rock after he was SLAPPED by Will Smith

Isla Fisher and Sacha Baron Cohen have made no secret of whose side they’re on after Will Smith sensationally slapped Chris Rock at the Oscars in Los Angeles on Sunday.

In a series of posts on Instagram Stories on Wednesday, Isla, 46, made it clear she was ‘Team Chris’, sharing photos of the comedian.

Posting a publicity photo of the 57-year-old, Isla tagged Chris and included the hashtag: ‘#comedylegend’.

A second post uploaded to Isla’s Instagram Stories shortly afterwards showed Chris with her husband of 12 years, Sacha, 50.

Isla simply captioned the photo of the two comedians with a red love heart.

It comes after fellow funnyman Jim Carrey claimed he would’ve sued Will, 53, ‘for $200million’ if he’d slapped him.

‘I was sickened. I was sickened by the standing ovation,’ Jim, 60, told CBS Mornings on Tuesday of the crowd’s reaction when Will won his Oscar after the attack.

‘Hollywood is just spineless en masse and it really felt like this is a really clear indication that we aren’t the cool club anymore.’

Jim said the incident ‘cast a pall over everybody’s shining moment’, and described it as ‘such a selfish moment’.

Will stunned the star-studded audience and movie fans alike when he walked onto the stage and smacked Chris, who was presenting the award for Best Documentary.

The comedian had made a joke about Will’s wife of 25 years, actress Jada Pinkett Smith’s shaved head. He reportedly was not aware that the actress suffered from alopecia.

‘Jada, I love ya. G.I. Jane 2, can’t wait to see ya,’ Chris told the crowd, referring to the 1997 film, G.I. Jane, which starred Demi Moore with a shaved head.

As Will turned and made his way back down to his seat in the front row, a shell-shocked Chris told the audience: ‘Oh, wow. Will Smith just smacked the s**t out of me.’

After sitting down again, a furious Will repeatedly warned Chris to ‘keep my wife’s name out of your f**king mouth’, as the audience sat in stunned silence.

A happier Will later returned to the stage to accept the award for Best Actor for his role in King Richard, in which he portrayed Venus and Serena Williams’ father.

The tearful actor apologised for his earlier behaviour without directly addressing Chris in his acceptance speech.

‘I want to apologise to the Academy. I want to apologise to all my fellow nominees. This is a beautiful moment and I’m not crying for winning an award,’ he began.

He added: ‘I’m being called on in my life to love people and to protect people and to be a river to my people.

‘I know to do what we do, you got to be able to take abuse. You got to be able to have people talk crazy about you.

‘In this business you got to be able to have people disrespecting you. And you got to smile and you got to pretend like that’s okay.’

Will addressed the attack on Instagram a day later, where he issued an apology to Chris and admitted he was ’embarrassed’ by his behaviour.

‘Violence in all of its forms is poisonous and destructive. My behaviour at last night’s Academy Awards was unacceptable and inexcusable,’ he wrote.

‘Jokes at my expense are a part of the job, but a joke about Jada’s medical condition was too much for me to bear and I reacted emotionally.

‘I would like to publicly apologise to you, Chris. I was out of line and I was wrong. I am embarrassed and my actions were not indicative of the man I want to be.’

'I would also like to apologise to the Academy, the producers of the show, all the attendees and everyone watching around the world,' Will later said

He added: ‘There is no place for violence in a world of love and kindness.’

The Aladdin actor then went on to apologise to The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, which hosts the Oscars.

Will also acknowledged that his actions had ‘stained’ the prestigious awards show.

‘I would like to apologise to the Williams Family and my King Richard Family. I deeply regret that my behaviour has stained what has been an otherwise gorgeous journey for all of us.’

He added: ‘I am a work in progress.’

Meanwhile, The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences said they would launch a formal review into the incident amid speculation Will could be stripped of his Oscar.

‘The Academy does not condone violence of any form,’ The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences wrote on Twitter on Monday.

‘Tonight we are delighted to celebrate our 94th Academy Awards winners, who deserve this moment of recognition from their peers and movie lovers around the world.’

'I would like to publicly apologise to you, Chris. I was out of line and I was wrong. I am embarrassed and my actions were not indicative of the man I want to be,' Will later wrote on Instagram
