An off-duty youth prison guard and dancer who escorted superstar fighter Israel Adesanya into the ring was assaulted after the UFC battle.

The 28-year-old was allegedly spotted by a former inmate after the match on October 6 at Docklands Stadium in Melbourne after dancing into the octagon with Adesanya.

The man was spotted by someone who knew him from the Parkville Youth Justice Centre, the Herald Sun reported.

He was walking towards Southern Cross Station between 4pm and 6pm when he was allegedly attacked.

The man was left with minor injuries.

The attack has left the dancer too scared to leave his home and has been slammed by a youth justice source as something ‘no one deserves’.

A Victoria Police spokesman told Daily Mail Australia a report has been filed.

‘Victoria Police is investigating after a 28-year-old man was physically assaulted by a number of young people near Southern Cross Railway Station between 4 – 6pm on 6 October,’ the spokesman said.

‘The victim sustained minor injuries. The investigation remains ongoing.’

The victim was part Adesanya’s creative entrance into Marvel Stadium.

The three backup dancers dressed in camouflage – including the victim – wore masks covering their faces.

Their routine included backflips, and transitioned into a haka before Adesanya entered and drew them into a huddle.

He then joined them with some dance moves and a cartwheel of his own before his assistants scurried away back down the tunnel.

Adesanya later explained he danced in with ‘guys I’ve known from way back’ so he could have a bit of fun and set the tone for the bout – which he won within two rounds.

Anyone with information has been urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
