Hamas terrorists have abducted an Australian’s two grandsons and daughter-in-law while also killing his son’s girlfriend during Saturday’s bloody sneak attack on Israel.

Mother-of-two Adi Kaplon, who is Australian man Yonadav’s daughter-in-law,  is believed to be among hundreds captured by the insurgents after they poured into southern Israel.

Family friend Moses Ben-Giat told The Australian newspaper Ms Kaplon’s infant boy was used as ‘a human shield’ by the raiding gunmen, who have taken hostages back to the Gaza Strip.

Mr Ben-Giat said Yonadav’s two sons live and their families in the village of Kibbutz Holit, which is just two kilometres from the Gaza border.

Young mother-of-two Adi Kaplon, who is the daughter-in-law of an Australian, has been reportedly kidnapped by Hamas fighters

At the time of the surprise attack Yonadav’s sons were in a neighbouring kibbutz where they were pinned down by Hamas gunfire.

Meanwhile in Holit Ms Kaplon barricaded herself and her four-month-old and four-year-old sons within the family home.

The terrified mother sent messages to neighbour Avital Aladjem as they desperately hid from the marauding gunmen who were shooting any who resisted.

‘Adi tried to hang on as much as she could,’ Ben-Giat said.

He reported Hamas fighters threw a grenade into the living room of Ms Kaplon’s house blowing open the front door.

They then stormed the house and dragged away Ms Kaplon and her boys.

Mr Ben-Giat said the merciless Hamas insurgents had earlier stormed the home of Yonadav’s youngest son and killed his girlfriend in cold blood while she slept.

‘Her body is still there, on the bed, we can’t reach that yet,’ he said.

The gunmen went from ‘house to house’ dragging defenceless families from their homes.

‘They took entire families in their house, anyone who opposed them, by any means … they would kill,’ Mr Ben-Giat said.

A family friend said Ms Kaplan had desperately tried to hide in a shelter even as terrorists threw a grenade into the family home blowing open the front door

A family friend said Ms Kaplan had desperately tried to hide in a shelter even as terrorists threw a grenade into the family home blowing open the front door

‘They weren’t struck by a bomb, they were killed one by one,’ he said.

The attack on the kibbutzim began around 6am but the Hamas fighters were only able to breach the fencing around Holit later in the morning.

Mr Ben-Giat said the brutal assault was launched from 50 trucks, which each  had four to five terrorists in them who were ‘heavily armed with RPGs, with M16s and machine guns’.

Once inside the kibbutz the gunmen methodically went house-to-house killing or kidnapping the occupants.

Yondav was too distraught to talk about what had happened,  Mr Ben-Giat said.
