Israelis warned to take cover in bomb shelters as Iran launches wave of missiles after vowing ‘revenge’ for overnight attacks on its nuclear sites

The Israeli military has warned citizens to take cover in bomb shelters after ‘dozens of Iranian ballistic missiles’ are en route to Israel.

Iran’s Supreme Leader Khamenei has reportedly said Israel started the strikes and initiated a war, with Iranian media confirming the launch of hundreds of missiles.

Earlier today, Tehran vowed ‘painful revenge’ for Israel’s targeting of a nuclear facility which involved a barrage of explosive-laden drones.

An Israeli military spokesman has said their ‘defence systems are working to intercept the threat’.

Smoke has been seen across the Tel Aviv skyline as Israel’s Iron Dome has begun intercepting the missiles.

Several blasts have also been heard over Jerusalem and air raid sirens are sounding in the city as well as Tel Aviv.
