Ita Buttrose has sold her inner-city Sydney home for $1,675,000.

The 82-year-old media veteran purchased the two-bathroom, two-bedroom high-rise apartment in Redfern just two years ago for $1.55 million.

Located on the 18th floor of the sought-after Moore Park Gardens apartment block, the split-level flat boasts stunning views of the city skyline.

The former ABC chair settled on a sales price that was $15K lower than the advertised listing of $1.69 million, reports the Wentworth Courier.

However, sales records reveal that the long-time editor of the Australian Women’s Weekly still made a tidy profit of $116,000 on the sale.

Buttrose was well-known in the neighbourhood for many years having first rented the property from two of her old friends, Franco and Rita Napoli, before electing to buy it.

Listed last December, it finally went under the hammer on February 26.

According to the report, Buttrose, who regularly uses a wheelchair, is looking to buy another property closer to her daughter Kate McDonald, who lives in southeast Sydney.

The apartment is situated a mere 4km from the CBD and overlooks beautiful Centennial Park.

Highlights include a full-length private balcony on the upper level of the flat and an open-plan dining and lounge area which boasts stunning city views.

The lower level hosts two bedrooms and also features a small private balcony off the main bedroom.

There is imported Italian floor tiling in most areas, a study area, a chair lift and a recently renovated en suite.

Residents of the Moore Park Gardens enjoy access to a 25metre outdoor pool as well as a gym and sauna.

It comes after Buttrose put her getaway in the Southern Highlands up for sale in February 2023.

Located 111km in Mittagong, the beautifully maintained four-bedroom home sold for close to the $1.4million asking price, the Sydney Morning Herald reported at the time.

The TV and media celebrity bought the 756 square metre block which is situated nearby the prestigious Frensham School, for $510,000 in 2010.

The media icon renovated the bathroom and kitchen ahead of the sale.

Highlights include a formal dining room and a beautifully appointed living room with fireplace and a library.

Buttrose first rose to fame in the 1970s as the founding editor of the lifestyle and fashion women’s magazine Cleo.

She was later the high-profile editor of the Australian Women’s Weekly.

Often seen on TV through the 80s and 90s as a guest on talk shows, Ita was later featured as a panellist on Channel 10’s Studio 10 between 2013 and 2018.

Buttrose was later appointed as ABC Chair by the Morrison Liberal government and served from 2019 until March 2024.
