It’s a Man United double as Erik ten Hag and Harry Maguire scoop Premier League Manager and Player of the Month prizes after three wins and three clean sheets in November

  • Ten Hag’s side recorded three successive wins without conceding in the month
  • Maguire claimed award ahead of the likes of Anthony Gordon and Jeremy Doku
  • United are three points behind City… a league table can LIE. There are chasms between them – It’s All Kicking Off

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag and defender Harry Maguire have been recognised for the club’s unblemished record in November.

The Dutchman has been named Premier League Manager of the Month after guiding his side to successive wins over Fulham, Luton and Everton.

He ran out the victor against Hatters boss Rob Edwards, Newcastle’s Eddie Howe and Andoni Iraola of Bournemouth.

Former skipper Maguire took home the Player of the Month award after anchoring a defence that did not concede during the run.

Maguire’s award caps a stunning turnaround for the 30-year-old, who has forced his way back into Ten Hag’s starting XI after being stripped of the captaincy and looking set to depart Old Trafford in the summer.

The England international beat out competition from Manchester City’s Jeremy Doku, Newcastle United’s Anthony Gordon, Chelsea’s Raheem Sterling, Bournemouth’s Marcus Tavernier and Luton Town’s Thomas Kaminski in the voting.

He thanked his teammates, staff at Old Trafford and the fans after taking home the gong for the very first time.

‘Couldn’t of done it without my team mates, the staff and you fans.’ Maguire wrote in a post on Instagram. ‘Your love and support doesn’t go unnoticed, I appreciate it.’

A testament to the former Leicester defender’s improved form has been the relative silence that has accompanied his selection for club and country in recent weeks.

Maguire has been one of Ten Hag’s most dependable players in a perplexing run that saw United become the league’s most in form team, whilst also teetering on the edge of a Champions League group stage exit.

United have put together a run of five Premier League wins in seven games that sees them in sixth, level on points with Tottenham and just three behind Manchester City.
