Cult television series Bullseye could be making a return to our screens.

Channel 5 is considering a revival of the legendary ITV darts game show after the success of their reworked Blind Date.

The match-making programme was rebooted with Paul O’Grady in Cilla Black’s shoes after more than 13 years.

Now chiefs think Bullseye, hosted by comedian Jim Bowen between 1981 and 1995, could prove a hit as darts becomes ever more popular in the UK.

A TV source told The Sun: ‘Channel 5 are over the moon with how Blind Date has gone.

‘Despite having a new host the old format has still done well with viewers.

‘They are now knocking around a few old classics such as Bullseye with the idea of bringing them back.

‘In an ideal world they would have someone like Bradley Walsh hosting it, but there’s bound to be many celebrity fans who’ll be keen too.’

Ant and Dec hosted a one-off Bullseye special in 2005 and it returned for one series the following year on TV channel Challenge with Dave Spikey hosting.

The game involved pairs of contestants – a darts player and a non-darts player – using their darts and quiz skills to compete for rewards.

Up for grabs in each episode was Bully’s Special Prize, often a more luxurious reward such as a car.
