Ivanka Trump takes her turn at the United Nations

Hours after her father spoke before the United Nations General Assembly, it was first daughter and White House aide Ivanka Trump’s turn.

Seated across a table from British Prime Minister Theresa May, Ivanka Trump told those gathered that combating human trafficking is a top Trump administration concern.

‘We join you today in a full-throated call for enhanced cooperation to tackle modern slavery in all of its evil forms,’ the first daughter said.

‘Human trafficking and forced labor are forms of modern slavery that know no boundaries, spilling across international borders and impacting men, women and children of all ages and all nationalities,’ the first daughter warned.

Early on she put human trafficking in her basket of White House issues, bringing in survivors, members of Congress and experts to determine ‘tangle steps’ the United States can take to combat the problem.

‘It’s hard to grasp how tens of millions of people across the globe can experience this scale of human suffering,’ Ivanka Trump said.

‘It is unacceptable,’ she added.

Both May and Ivanka Trump suggested human trafficking needed a ‘truly international response,’ as the prime minister put it.

‘We must take away the economic opportunity in these crimes,’ said Ivanka Trump, one of a handful of her suggestions.

Beyond today’s panel, a White House official told the Associated Press that Ivanka Trump had set up a series of meetings with world leaders to promote her own set of issues, like women’s economic development, while at the United Nations General Assembly this week.

On Monday she met with India’s Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj along with Peter Maurer, the president of the International Committee for the Red Cross.

Ivanka Trump will also meet with Australia’s Foreign Minister Julie Bishop.

The first daughter will also get coffee with Queen Maxima of the Netherlands, the AP learned.

Earlier Tuesday she was visibly in the audience for her father’s big speech.

Back at home in New York City, she also took some time out for family, posting a photo on social media Tuesday that showed her cradling the newest Trump, her nephew Luke, the first child of brother Eric and his wife Lara Trump.

‘Cuddling my little nephew Luke… the best part of an otherwise incredible day!’ she wrote.
