Ivanka Trump’s dress at Tiffany’s wedding was copy of Grace Kelly’s gown in To Catch a Thief

It looks like Ivanka Trump took inspiration from late actress Grace Kelly when she attended her half-sister Tiffany’s wedding over the weekend. She served as the Matron of Honor in a gown that was an exact replica of something Grace wore in the movie To Catch a Thief – and the parallel between the film and her father, Donald Trump’s claims that the 2020 election was stolen by current President Joe Biden have left some people raising their eyebrows.

Tiffany Trump, 29, and her billionaire businessman husband Michael Boulos, 25, tied the knot at the Trump estate in Mar-a-Lago on Saturday, during a stunning wedding ceremony surrounded by 250 of the couple’s friends and family members – but Ivanka’s choice of clothing for the affair quickly caught the internet’s attention.

The 41-year-old opted for a strapless, floor-length, light blue gown made by Lebanese designer Elie Saab – the same dress that Grace wore 67 years earlier in the 1955 Alfred Hitchcock romantic thriller – and many have wondered if she was trying to send a message with her ensemble.

To Catch a Thief was all about a retired burglar who was on the run from the law in the French Riviera. But he was forced to go from criminal to mock detective after an imposter started committing robberies in his style. During his attempt to find the burglar, he met the daughter of a wealthy widow, named Frances (played by Grace), who he quickly fell for.

During one part of the movie, Grace’s character was seen in a very similar gown to what Ivanka wore to Tiffany’s wedding, which some people called ‘ironic’ given the theme of the movie and her father’s ongoing legal battles.

‘Ivanka’s blue dress was modeled after Grace Kelly’s in TO CATCH A THIEF! How’s that for poetic Justice?’ one person wrote on Twitter.

‘Ivanka’s dress was a replica of Grace Kelly’s dress from To Catch a Thief. The irony could not possibly have been lost on her,’ added another.

Ever since Joe was elected as the United State’s 46th President, Donald and his supporters have claimed that he ‘stole’ the election from Donald – a belief that inspired a group of rioters to storm the US Capitol building on January 6, 2021. In addition, news hit the web back in August that the FBI had raided the Trump estate in Florida to retrieve documents that the former President took from the White House when he left office in January 2021.

Grace, who died after a car crash in September 1982, was highly regarded as a style icon – so it’s definitely possible that Ivanka was simply inspired by her fashion choices and that her choice of dress had nothing to do with the movie’s theme.

Ivanka shared numerous pictures from the wedding weekend to her social media accounts, including one that showed her posing alongside her husband Jared Kushner, 41, and three young children – Arabelle, 11, Joseph, nine, and Theodore, six – all of whom sported similar blue attire for the special occasion.

Another snap showed her and the bride grinning from ear to ear together while holding hands.

‘When I was 12 years old my dream of having a baby sister came true! From the first moment I held @tiffanytrump in my arms and looked into those big, kind, curious blue eyes I was smitten,’ Ivanka gushed in the caption.

‘Tiffany radiates love, compassion and grace – attributes that she will bring into her marriage with Michael. I wish Tiffany and Michael an abundance of happiness and joy as they begin their lives together as husband and wife. May their love be a source of light in this world.’

One of Ivanka’s posts quickly drew attention – after her followers noticed that she had cropped her brother Donald Trump Jr.’s fiancée, Kimberly Guilfoyle, out of the picture. It’s believed that she decided to leave Kimberly out due to her look for the evening, as all of the family members were in pastel-colored or gold dresses, except for Kimberly, 53, who stood out in black.

Tiffany, in her sparkling wedding gown, was in the center of the photo with her mother, Marla Maples, dressed in mauve on her right, next to her sister-in-law Lara Trump in a gold-sparkled dress. To Tiffany’s left was her stepmother, Melania Trump, in a gold-hued gown, and Ivanka in her baby blue dress.

The original photo showed Kimberly, all in black, next to Ivanka – but in the photos Ivanka shared on social media, Kimberly was not included.

A Trump insider later told DailyMail.com that Ivanka made a ‘terrible mistake’ by cropping out Don Jr’s fiancée in the wedding pic – and fixed the error ‘as soon as she realized.’

Ivanka did not delete the original post, but she shared the full photo of all six women to her Instagram stories four hours later with some heart emojis.

The source added that the pair spent a ‘lot of time together at the wedding and really have a wonderful relationship’ and that ‘Ivanka loves Kimberly and in no way would crop her out.’

‘The two women are very close and Kimberly has really become part of the Trump family. When Ivanka realized what had happened, she immediately reposted the photo,’ the insider dished.

As for the bride’s dress, Tiffany donned an intricate sequined and beaded dress for the ceremony, also made by Elie, which contained a ballet neckline, fitted long sleeves, and a full princess skirt. She then switched into a silky white, off-the-shoulder gown for the celebration afterwards.

Her father – dressed like all the male guests in a black tux and bow tie – accompanied her down the aisle. The fairytale outdoor ceremony started at 5pm with the blissful bride walking down the aisle towards a rhododendron festooned arch – thousands of blooms in dusty pink, blue and white.

After exchanging vows, the blissful couple joined guests for champagne and canapés by the pool before heading into the estate’s magnificent ballroom for the main reception, where tables were covered in lush floral arrangements and tall, crystal candelabras.

Donald also made a touching speech to the crowd during the party later that evening.

‘Michael, you better take care of her,’ he joked. ‘No doubt, you are a special person and you are way beyond your years. I have seen him dealing with very big people. You are just two spectacular people and this was a beautiful day.’
