Jack Grealish has revealed he now owes Trent Alexander-Arnold £500 after the Liverpool star scored a brilliant free-kick for England.
Manchester City star Grealish, who has thrown his weight behind interim head coach Lee Carsley, scored the first of the night in the comfortable win over Finland – but his strike was overshadowed by Alexander-Arnold’s beautifully executed set-piece.
‘I said if you score this I’ll give you £500 and then he just slapped it in the top bins – so I owe him now,’ Grealish told ITV.
Having missed the defeat to Greece through injury, Grealish’s return to the team coincided with an improved performance from England.
But interim head coach Lee Carsley has refused to confirm whether he wants to be considered for the role on a permanent basis.

However, Grealish has backed Carsley, saying: ‘With the England manager, I think there will always be people saying negative stuff.
‘Before people were crying out for all of the so-called attacking players to play – we do it and it didn’t work for one game and then there’s a few people moaning.
‘In my honest opinion, I don’t really get it, it can happen in games, sometimes you get beat in international football.
‘I love coming here, he’s a top, top manager, brilliant guy and I love playing for him.’
On the team’s performance against Finland, Grealish added: ‘The goal came from the manager letting us play with that freedom.
‘We probably could have had a few more, especially towards the end as the game opened up.
‘It was difficult at times in the first half but I think we dominated the game later on.
‘At the end we’re a bit gutted to concede the goal from a set piece. We needed a win today so I’m happy with that.’

On Grealish’s performance, Carsley said: ‘Jack was outstanding. It was a shame he missed the Greece game. I thought he would’ve been effective.
‘Jack was very good and he’s an infectious character, really pleased with him.’
