Jackie Kennedy’s letters on JFK Jr are set to be auctioned

Recently unearthed letters and documents written by Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis show just how dedicated she was to making sure John F. Kennedy Jr. graduated from Brown University.

The letters and documents, which include his application to the university, are up for auction by Gary Zimet of MomentsInTime.com and are expected to sell for an estimated $85,000.

‘The letters show how involved Jackie was with his education and his tenure at Brown,’ Zimmet told Page Six. 

He added, ‘The documents came from the estate of an administrator at Brown.’ 

While her teenage son was away in Kenya, the former first lady took things into her own hands and filled out his 1978 application to Brown University.

For the application, she listed her late husband President John F. Kennedy’s occupation as ‘government.’ 

She even downplayed her son’s noteworthy and famous family ties in the autobiography section of the form. 

‘Family life: Mother, sister grew up in New York City. Spends part of the summer by the sea in New England with many cousins,’ she wrote.

Once he started attending college, the concerned mother even kept in touch with his professors to make sure that he stayed focused on making good grades in his classes. 

In one letter that she wrote to the dean, she asked that her son not be treated differently from other students at the university. 

‘I have never asked for special consideration for my children because I feel that is harmful to them,’ she wrote in one letter.

In this note, the former first lady wrote that her son 'doesn't know whether or not (if) he wish to try for law school, but hopes to decide during his years at Brown'

The youngest child of the first family reportedly wanted to pursue a career in acting, but his mother refused to let him apply to the Yale School of Drama after he finished at Brown in 1983. 

She insisted that he study law instead, and he went on to earn a law degree in 1989 from New York University. 

John married Carolyn Bessette in 1996, but they both tragically died in a July 1999 plane crash near Martha’s Vineyard.
