Jackie O’s first radio appearance: Audio resurfaces of the very excited radio titan taking to the airwaves at just five years old

Jackie ‘O’ Henderson celebrated thirty years as a radio host this week.

But her on-air debut actually took place much earlier, with audio of the KIIS FM star’s first ever radio appearance as a child resurfacing on Thursday.

It featured Jackie as a very excited five-year-old calling in to her local radio station on the Gold Coast.

The audio was played during The Kyle and Jackie O Show, with young Jackie giggling shrilly on the air and making jokes about her mother.

‘You were entertaining then,’ co-host Kyle Sandilands told his long term radio partner, adding: ‘Even back then you couldn’t shut her up.’

Kyle, 52, went onto play a series of throwback segments featuring himself and Jackie O including one grab from their days co-hosting 2-Day FM’s Hot 30 Countdown, which was on-air in the early 2000s.

The pair also treated listeners to the touching moment in 2010 when Jackie announced she was pregnant with her daughter Kitty, whom she shares with her second husband Lee Henderson.

Jackie started off her career as a 19-year-old and became the on-air partner of her first husband ‘Ugly Phil’ O’Neil.

The couple appeared as a duo on Triple M Adelaide, followed by a stint with Fox FM Melbourne and later 2-Day FM in Sydney.

She later teamed up with Kyle in 1999, after divorcing O’Neil the same year.

The Sydney-based radio duo signed a record-breaking $200million, 10-year deal live on-air - keeping them on the airwaves until 2034.

A spokesperson for ARN confirmed to Daily Mail Australia the deal for the Sydney duo meant their work pals Jase Hawkins and Lauren Phillips were out of a job and their Melbourne breakfast show finished up in December.

Lauren broke down in tears while announcing the news to her listeners, sobbing that she didn’t want to ‘say goodbye to Melbourne’.
