Jacob Rees-Mogg is MOBBED by anti-austerity protesters

Angry protesters mobbed Tory MP Jacob Rees-Mogg today as he addressed a fringe event at party conference.

A group of protesters stormed the room where the meeting was taking place in Manchester and started chanting demanding the Tories be kicked out of office

Several then ran to the front and surrounded the backbencher shouting at him about his views on abortion and austerity.

One young man confronted the MP over low wages and food banks.

Mr Rees-Mogg has become an unlikely contender to take over from Theresa May as leader – despite dismissing the prospect himself.

His dapper ‘Old Fogey’ style and dapper dress have earned him a cult following among activists.

Followers have christened themselves ‘Moggmentum’ after the Labour-backing organisation that entrenched Jeremy Corbyn in the leadership.

However, Mr Rees-Mogg has also sparked controversy with his views on abortion.

The devout Catholic recently said he opposed abortion even in cases when women have been raped.  

Around a dozen protesters stormed the back of the packed Manchester town hall to protest at the tories.

Waving placards they began shouting, and were greeted with boos and shouts of ‘Labour scum’ from one man in the room.

Several were thrown out of the hall by security, but a couple broke away and made it to the front of the grand hall were they confronted Rees Mogg.

One woman confronted him over his views on abortion and the alleged profits he makes on abortion pills.

Speaking to the woman Mr Rees-Mogg said ‘that life is the crucial thing and creating that life is precious.’  

The meeting was delayed as the MP spent several minutes talking to the protester and agreed to meet her after the event to talk through her comments concerns.

But as he went back towards the stages where he was due to address hundreds on Brexit, he was rounded on by another protester.

The young man angrily confronted the Tory MP.

The protester shouted: ‘Shame on you Jacob Rees-Mogg, Tories out.’

The young man chanted Tories out Tories out and told the MP ‘you are not welcome here.’

He said: ‘Your disgusting views are not welcome here. Tories out.’

As Mr Rees Mogg asked him what he disagreed with him about, the protester said ‘everything’.  

‘I disagree with you over women’s rights, austerity. Everything. You are a disposable person,’ he said.

Asked how he feels about the protesters being thrown out, Mr Rees Mogg said it is not his decision as ‘I didn’t organise the meeting’.

Read Mogg calmly hit back saying: ‘we may disagree on things but just because you have different views it doesn’t make you a bad person. The two things are separate.’

The protester said: ‘The things you are saying are harming people’s lives, there are people dying because of the things you are advocating.’

The protester tore into to the Tories hover low wages and the high use of food banks, as the Tory MP insist s the governments policies are making lives better.

As the pair went toe to toe surrounded by reporters and cameramen.

Mr Rees Mogg said: ‘you are are welcome to talk to me but I think it’s difficult if your intention is just to shout and wave leaflets.’

After several minutes the crowd started slow clapping to urge the fringe debate to start.

And the protester was bundled or if the room by an organiser to the claps and cheers if the crowd
