Jake Gyllenhaal hosts screening for brother-in-law Peter Sarsgaard and Jessica Chastain’s new movie Memory In New York City

Jake Gyllenhaal showed off his love for his family as he hosted a screening for his brother-in-law’s film.

The Oscar nominee, 42, was spotted supporting Peter Sarsgaard — who is married to Jake’s sister Maggie Gyllenhaal — and Jessica Chastain with a viewing of their new movie Memory at the NeueHouse Cinema in New York City on Thursday.

The two leads actors of the buzzed-about drama drew a star-studded crowd, as Chloe Moretz, Edie Falco and David Krumholtz atteneded the special event.

Jake was dressed in an all-black ensemble as he posed with Peter and Jessica ahead of the screening.

The proud brother-in-law moment comes after Jake previously gave Peter a shout out for his best actor win at the 2023 Venice International Film Festival for the film in September.

Alongside a photo of Peter with his award, Jake’s wrote: ‘Congratulations to my incredible (and incredibly talented) brother in law @gaardsars for winning Best Actor at the Venice Film Festival!’

He added, ‘Couldn’t be happier for this extraordinary human. Love you brother.’

Maggie, 45, also paid tribute on Instagram, writing, ‘My husband @gaardsars won the #volpicup BEST ACTOR at the Venice Film Festival last night. His performance was astonishing. Vulnerable, feet on the ground/heart in the heavens.’

Jake and Maggie’s godmother Jamie Lee Curtis also chimed in with a celebratory message, posting, ‘SUCH A GOOD MAN, HUSBAND, PARTNER, FATHER, ARTIST!’

Peter — who shares 16-year-old Ramona and 11-year-old Gloria Ray with Maggie — took home the award for his role of Saul, a man struggling to come to terms with his early onset dementia.

The movie also revolves around Saul’s former classmate Sylvia, played by Chastain, who is struggling herself as she was sexually assaulted as a child and is 13 years into sobriety.

Jake and Peter also have a project they worked on together coming out in 2024: David E. Kelley’s miniseries Presumed Innocent.

Nearly two decades after their initial collaboration on Jarhead, the project has given an opportunity for the two to share more screen time than the military movie allowed.

‘At that time I’d been dating his sister for a couple years and I was really doing the movie to spend time with my future brother-in-law,’ Peter told The Hollywood Reporter in November.

‘I was pretty grumpy on that set because it was a big time commitment for not very much stuff to do,’ he added.

‘It was a lot of rifle-cleaning, which my ego did not enjoy.’
