James Buckley has hit back at trolls who have accused him of getting ‘Turkey teeth’.
The Inbetweeners actor, 36, was hurt after he was bombarded with cruel taunts over his smile when he uploaded a photo with footballer Jill Scott on Instagram earlier this week.
Speaking to wife Clair on their podcast In Sickness and In Health, James revealed his teeth are his own after wearing a brace for five years.
James said: ‘I put up a picture on Instagram with Jill Scott to make it look like I’ve got an interesting life and I’m just not going to smile ever again.
‘It was constantly “Turkey teeth”. I haven’t got a problem with people getting veneers but the Turkey teeth thing is a bad connotation. It’s that gum shield look.’

James continued: ‘My teeth are my teeth. I’ve never had a cavity. I’ve never had any kind of operation on my teeth. They are clean as a whistle. I wore a brace for almost five years. It lacerated my tongue.’
Clair sympathised: ‘You went to all that trouble to get these really nice white straight teeth and people think they are fake.’
James said: ‘If they were fake. The Turkey fake teeth thing is like they’re bad teeth. I have looked after my teeth and obsessed over them.
‘I deleted so many comments it was just getting on my nerves. I’ve just got I think quite nice teeth now. I used to have Austin Power type teeth.’
It comes after Clair revealed she fancied James when he was in The Inbetweeners, even telling her boyfriend at the time: ‘That little blonde one’s cute’.
Clair, 36, read out a question from a fan asking is she was attracted to James, also 36, back when he starred in The Inbetweeners.
She answered: ‘Yes I was, and I’ve actually got a funny story about that… I was in a flat share, and it was a load of young people, and I had a boyfriend at the time, and The Inbetweeners was on.
‘He was watching it, and I wasn’t really watching it; I wasn’t aware of it, I didn’t know what it was.’

Clair continued: ‘He was laughing away and he was going to me: “You should watch this, it’s funny, you’ll like it.” And I was like: “Oh, all right, OK.”
‘So, I watched a little bit of it. Now, believe me or not, this is the God’s honest truth, swear on my two kids’ lives, I remember saying to him: “This is stupid. This is so stupid. It’s not funny.”‘
James, jokily offended, interjected: ‘All right!’ And was met with laughter from the people working on the podcast.
Clair continued: ‘But, I did say, “That little blonde one’s cute.”‘ To which James proudly said, ‘Yeah.’ And Clair said, ‘Fact.’
‘So, even when I was sort of unaware who James was, I do remember that. I do remember seeing him and being like, “Oh, he’s quite nice.”‘
James and Clair have been married since 2012 and share two sons, Harrison, 11, and Jude, 9, whose faces they do not show.
