James Buckley’s wife Clair reveals she fancied him in The Inbetweeners and even told her boyfriend at the time: ‘That little blonde one’s cute!’

James Buckley’s wife Clair revealed she fancied him when he was in The Inbetweeners, even telling her boyfriend at the time: ‘That little blonde one’s cute!’ 

The married couple host podcast In Sickness And In Health together, but James is best known for his role as Jay Cartwright in the hit E4 comedy.

Clair, 36, read out a question from a fan asking is she was attracted to James, also 36, back when he starred in The Inbetweeners.

She answered: ‘Yes I was, and I’ve actually got a funny story about that… I was in a flat share, and it was a load of young people, and I had a boyfriend at the time, and The Inbetweeners was on.

‘He was watching it, and I wasn’t really watching it; I wasn’t aware of it, I didn’t know what it was.’ 

Clair continued: ‘He was laughing away and he was going to me: “You should watch this, it’s funny, you’ll like it.” And I was like: “Oh, all right, OK.”

‘So, I watched a little bit of it. Now, believe me or not, this is the God’s honest truth, swear on my two kids’ lives, I remember saying to him: “This is stupid. This is so stupid. It’s not funny.”‘

James, jokily offended, interjected: ‘All right!’ And was met with laughter from the people working on the podcast.

Clair continued: ‘But, I did say, “That little blonde one’s cute.”‘ To which James proudly said, ‘Yeah.’ And Clair said, ‘Fact.’

‘So, even when I was sort of unaware who James was, I do remember that. I do remember seeing him and being like, “Oh, he’s quite nice.”‘ 

James and Clair have been married since 2012 and share two sons, Harrison, 11, and Jude, 9, whose faces they do not show.

However, the two nearly divorced last month after James was caught with a set of women’s lingerie in his washing load. 

Thankfully the pair were able to get to the bottom of it after discovering they belonged to Clair’s sister, who had stayed at their house the week before.

Although not before James confessed: ‘I sat in the room thinking “this is going to be it.” She’s gonna divorce me and I am going to spend the rest of my life thinking “where the f**k did those pants come from!”‘ 

Ever before the podcast, James and Clair were inviting people into their lives with their YouTube channel At Home With The Buckleys. 

It spawned a book of the same name in September 2022. 

That same month, it was announced James had become the UK’s first Cameo millionaire after recording ‘tens of thousands’ of personalised videos to fans.

James and Clair first met on Twitter.
