James Murdoch ‘iced out’ of family reunion on the Amalfi Coast after being accused by brother Lachlan of leaking secrets of News Corp dynasty to the writers of Succession
James Murdoch was reportedly ‘iced out’ of the Murdoch family reunion on Saturday as his media mogul father Rupert and siblings Lachlan and Elizabeth celebrated on their super yachts.
The billionaire family took their multimillion-dollar boats out for a spin on the Amalfi Coast with their extended family of almost 40, but James, 50, was nowhere to be seen.
Allegedly estranged from the international media magnates due to his left-leaning politics, James was not invited to the reunion, reports The Sydney Morning Herald.
Lachlan, 51, and wife Sarah manned their sleek new $150million yacht Sarissa as the patriarch of the Murdoch clan chartered the world’s most iconic boat Christina O.
Others spotted at the luxury family reunion included Elizabeth’s husband Keith Tyson and Rupert’s youngest daughters Grace and Chloe.

Insiders alleged James was not at the Murdoch gathering due to rumours he leaked stories about the family to producers of the television series Succession.
The HBO comedy drama depicts the power struggle within the powerful Roy family who control Waystar RoyCo, a global media and entertainment conglomerate.
There are eerie parallels between the Roy and Murdoch family, with many concluding the Australian media moguls were the inspiration for Succession.
Conflicting sources suggest Lachlan told his father Rupert, 92, that James had leaked stories for the writers to use in the series.
However, others close to Lachlan denied the accusations, saying Lachlan never told Rupert the rumours – it’s unclear which claim is true.
Nevertheless, if it were true, it would be a huge slap in the face to Rupert who reportedly banned his ex-wife Jerry Hall from speaking with Succession writers.

Insiders say James was not at the Murdoch gathering due to rumours he leaked stories about the family to producers of the TV series Succession, which is loosely based on the Murdochs
According to a Vanity Fair article in 2022, the media magnate stipulated in his divorce settlement with his fourth wife that she was not allowed to leak stories for the show.
Despite the wild claims, James told The New York Times in 2020 that he doesn’t even watch the television show said to be modelled on his family dynamics.
‘The dramatization of family affairs is as old as anything. It’s always built in a certain construct, back in Shakespeare or back in Homer,’ he told the publication.
‘I think the reality, my reality anyways, is that I’ve never felt that comfortable drawing any parallels, because I don’t feel as if I live solely in a needy orbit of approval or whatever from the charismatic mega-fauna. Not at all. I’m entirely my own person.’
