James Stewart won’t be with his daughter at Christmas

Though they split in 2015, James Stewart and Jessica Marais have been committed to co-parenting their daughter Scout.

But James has revealed that he won’t be spending this Christmas with the five-year-old.

Speaking to TV Week on Monday, the 42-year-old said: ‘I think Scout might go away with her mum and I might go to Brooklyn.

The actor, who plays Justin Morgan in Home And Away, says celebrating Christmas won’t feel the same without his little girl.

‘Scout squeals over Christmas,’ James told the magazine. ‘I love it.’

The doting dad also says he loves nothing more than spending the weeks leading up to Christmas with an over-excited Scout.

‘We read all the Christmas stories and sing all the songs. And all of a sudden, she’s making her bed,’ he said. ‘I’ll definitely miss her.’

James and Jessica feel in love on the set of Packed to the Rafters in 2009, he played the role of tradesman Jake Barton, the love interest of Jessica’s character Rachel Rafter. 

The pair were together for four years, announcing their engagement in October 2010, before welcoming daughter Scout in May 2012.

The couple split in 2015 and James wrote in his Sunday Life column: ‘Our relationship didn’t work out because I think hearts go in different directions eventually’.

He has also spoke to the newspaper about the couple’s co-parenting arrangement last year and said he was Scout’s primary carer.

‘I am the full-time carer for Scout as Jess is busy working and travelling a lot,’ he said at the time.

‘When Jess is back, Scout is shared 50/50.’
