James Woods says he is not retiring from acting

Actor James Woods says a real estate listing announcing his retirement from the entertainment industry was a mistake.

The news was included in a press release issued by Woods’s real estate agent offering his Rhode Island lake house for sale.

According to the original statement from agent Allen Gammons, Woods ‘is retiring from the entertainment industry and hopes to ‘simplify his life’ by selling ‘his many real estate holdings on both coasts.’

In an interview with The Washington Post, Woods said: ‘My career is not going to end in a real estate announcement.

Woods told the newspaper he had spoken with Gammons about his property holdings and indicated that he wanted to ‘simplify by having less property as [he went] toward retirement.’

When Gammons read the listing back to him over the phone, the actor said he wasn’t paying attention and didn’t hear the word ‘retirement’.

News quickly spread on social media but Woods waited until Sunday to debunk the rumors.

On Twitter, he wrote: ‘The reports of my retirement are greatly exaggerated.’

‘I’m the world’s biggest tease on Twitter,’ Woods said. ‘I do not remotely take myself seriously in any way. Why do you think I’m on ‘Family Guy’?’

The property, on Boone Lake in Exeter, Rhode Island, is selling for $1.39million. The actor owns four homes in the state.

Gammons also added that the actor’s brother and mother recently died, and he hopes to spend more time on passions including photography, antiquing and poker.

Woods is known for his conservative political views and has said that’s made it tough to find work in Hollywood.
