Jamie Carragher’s Twitter account is HACKED moments after England kick off against Slovenia – with some fans joking that the social media chaos is ‘more entertaining’ than Gareth Southgate’s players!

Jamie Carragher’s X (formerly Twitter) account has been hacked during England’s final group stage Euro 2024 match against Slovenia.

The former Liverpool icon – and current pundit – would normally be sharing his thoughts on Gareth Southgate’s sides travails via the social media platform.

But the Sky Sports commentator appeared to be unable to access his account minutes after the Three Lions kicked off in Cologne.

At the time of writing, the hacker’s posts were live, and the hacker is still in control of the account, appearing to re-direct Carragher’s account to a new username of @XAIPremium.

Carragher’s former username – @Carra23 – is now linked to an account with just 15 followers, a far cry from his usual 2.3million.

A sample of the bizarre posts shared to Carragher’s account during the hack include a number of references to X, and seem to promote cryptocurrencies.

A number of posts being reposted to the account similarly promote the official X social media account, and include business updates as well as X-centric memes.

Fans using the platform were baffled by the change in their feed, with one poking fun at the apparent similarities between the goings-on in Cologne and the X chaos.

‘This England midfield has as much control over this match as Jamie Carragher has over his Twitter account,’ one user wrote.

Another added: ‘I’ll be honest, Carragher getting hacked is by far the most entertaining thing about this England game.’

A third weighed in: ‘Jamie Carragher has now been hacked, this is what Southgate ball does to someone (crying emoji).’

Carragher responded to the hacking attempt via a different social media site – Instagram – as he called upon his followers to ignore the noise.

‘Twitter been hacked so there might be more nonsense on there than usual!’ The pundit joked.
