Jamie Dornan says he’s ‘incredibly excited to continue the story’ in coming back to The Tourist for second season

Jamie Dornan will be back for a second season of the critically-acclaimed BBC series, The Tourist.

‘I’m incredibly excited to continue the story with The Tourist,’ the UK native, 40, who plays Elliott/The Man on the series, said in a statement.

The Fifty Shades of Grey star, who is also an executive producer on the show, said that the show’s creators, Harry and Jack Williams, ‘are brilliant writers and I can’t wait for audiences to see how well Ireland and its characters are utilized to keep them guessing as the tale progresses.’

The upcoming installment in the series, which is produced by Two Brothers Pictures and All3Media International, will commence with production this April.

The series, which was the most-watched on BBC iPlayer in January of 2022, also featured Danielle Macdonald, Shalom Brune-Franklin, Ólafur Darri Ólafsson, Danny Adcock and Damon Herriman.

Creators Jack and Harry Williams said in a statement that ‘The Tourist was unlike anything we’d written before and we’re hugely grateful for the incredible response to series one.’

They said that ‘it’s been an exciting journey getting stuck into that world again with the quirky characters that were so loved, and seeing where we could take them next, whilst continuing to deliver a tonally unique and off-beat drama.’

The storyline of the series will follow Elliott (Dornan) looking back into his past after dealing with severe memory loss in the wake of a car crash.

The latest: Jamie Dornan, 40, will be back for a second season of the critically-acclaimed BBC series, The Tourist. The actor was snapped at the BAFTA Awards earlier this month

As Elliott deals with his inner battles, Helen (Macdonald) deals with another overlying scenario that leads them to deal with a number of past and present foes.

‘I’m so excited to team up with Jamie again and return for another wild adventure with an amazing cast and crew,’ Macdonald said in a statement.

He added: ‘Jack and Harry Williams are brilliant story tellers and it’s exciting to see what their minds will come up with next.’

Two Brothers’ execs Sarah Hammond and Daniel Walker said that the second season of The Tourist ‘will surprise and delight viewers in the same way that the first did so successfully … with comedy embedded throughout the dark and thrilling narrative.’

In recent years, Dornan has been seen in the motion picture Belfast and the dramatic comedy Wild Mountain Thyme.

Other upcoming projects include the Kenneth Branagh-directed film A Haunting in Venice, and Heart of Stone, a crime thriller in which he appears opposite Gal Gadot.
