Jamie Redknapp’s guide to the Champions League quarter-finals

The last eight of the Champions League have been finalised and there are some fascinating match-ups.

Liverpool may fancy their chances against Manchester City having beaten them this season whilst Barcelona avoided being drawn against the big hitters, instead facing Roma.

Sportsmail’s Jamie Redknapp takes a closer look at the quarter finals.

Jurgen Klopp has a strong record against Pep Guardiola but Manchester City are formidable

Liverpool vs Manchester City

This is the draw neither team wanted. While City may be slight favourites, I can see Liverpool going through.

Jurgen Klopp’s side have grown stronger as the season has progressed, with Virgil van Dijk making them much better at the back.

Up front Mo Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane have helped Liverpool score 28 goals, more than any team in the last eight. They have stunned City once in the league and can do so again in Europe.

LIVERPOOL STAT: Jurgen Klopp has beaten Pep Guardiola five times, more than any other boss. Guardiola has also won five times against Klopp, with two draws.

MAN CITY STAT: City have won just one of their last 30 trips to Anfield, drawing nine and losing 20.

Neither side will have wanted this draw and City have a poor record away at Anfield

Barcelona vs Roma

A great draw for Barcelona, avoiding the big guns. Roma have had a good run in the Champions League, with Edin Dzeko’s goals propelling them to their first Champions league quarter-final in 10 years. But Lionel Messi and Co should be too strong for them.

BARCELONA STAT: Barca have conceded only two goals in the Champions League this season (v Olympiacos and Chelsea).

ROMA STAT: Roma have used only 18 players in Europe this season, fewer than any team in the last eight.

Real Madrid vs Juventus

Real Madrid were 4-1 winners when these sides met in last June’s final. While Zinedine Zidane’s side will be wary of how Juventus snatched victory over Tottenham at Wembley,

This should be another win for Madrid as they chase Champions League title No 13.

JUVENTUS STAT: With an average age of 29 years and 261 days, Juventus are the oldest team left in the competition.

REAL MADRID STAT: Real Madrid have had the most shots (163) and attempts on target (66) of the last eight.

Sevilla vs Bayern Munich

Unbeaten in 18 matches, Bayern Munich are hitting top gear. Beating Manchester United felt like Sevilla’s cup final and I cannot see them going any further.

SEVILLA STAT: Only Cristiano Ronaldo (12) has more CL goals than Wissam Ben Yedder this season (8).

BAYERN STAT: They’ve lost seven of their last 10 games v Spanish sides.
