Jana Kramer has joined the discourse surrounding It Ends With Us, Blake Lively’s new movie about an abusive romantic relationship.
The 37-year-old mother-of-three — who tied the knot with Allan Russell in July — shared her thoughts on how the movie campaign has handled the sensitive subject matter.
On her Whine Down podcast, Kramer said: ‘I would love the messaging to go to DV with media, instead of talking about riffs and everything else. The movie is about domestic violence.’
‘It’s hard for people to talk about domestic violence when they haven’t had the hands of domestic violence on them,’ she noted.
The actress and singer added: ‘So, for people to say it doesn’t define you — it does define you. It has made me who I am.’

Jana didn’t specify what prompted her statements, but in a recent interview with BBC News, Blake said, ‘My character, Lily Bloom, is not defined by domestic violence.’
The Gossip Girl alum added, ‘She defines herself, and I think that that’s deeply empowering to remind people that no-one else can define you. No experience can define you. You define you.’
On her latest podcast episode, Jana continued: ‘And though people can say, “It doesn’t define you,” [domestic violence] is one of the biggest pieces of me and has been the biggest thread in my life.’
She admitted, ‘I haven’t seen the movie. I have a tough time watching movies that deal with domestic violence given my history with it.’
Lively has been criticized for not speaking out enough about domestic violence throughout the It Ends With Us press tour.
However, after the feature film premiered, she took to Instagram to share resources for victims of DV.
The mother-of-four, who is married to Ryan Reynolds, captioned a post: ‘1 in 4 women aged 18 and older in the US alone have been the victim of severe physical violence by an intimate partner in their lifetime.
‘Intimate partner violence affects all genders, including more than 12 million people every year in the United States. Everyone deserves relationships free from domestic violence. The National Domestic Violence Hotline provides confidential support 24/7/265.’

The media personality was married to Mike Caussin from 2015-2021
Kramer has previously spoken out about the violence she endured in her marriage to Michael Gambino, who she married in 2004.
The couple split that same year, and in 2005 Gambino was convicted of premeditated attempted murder and sentenced to six years in prison.
He died by suicide in 2012.
The media personality was later wed to Mike Caussin, with the marriage lasting from 2015-2021 and producing two children — daughter Jolie, eight, and son Jace, five.
She and new husband Allan welcomed a son named Roman five months ago.
