Jana Pittman ‘heartbroken’ over the criticism of her appearance on The Amazing Race with her son and her mothering skills

Jana Pittman and her teenage son Cornelis were sensationally eliminated on The Amazing Race on Wednesday evening.

And the Olympian, 40, took to Instagram shortly after the episode aired to directly address the constant criticism she and her son received.

Alongside a throwback photo of Jana and her 16-year-old son, Jana wrote some choice words for her haters.

‘Definitely heartbroken to read some super critical messages from people about our relationship and my mothering skills,’ she began.

‘That I babied him calling him buddy, that I was annoying and too critical. I hear you. I watched the edit and cringed too. The portrayal of my mother-son relationship laid bare for all to comment on.

‘It has definitely made me look at myself and realise I have to be less intense, enjoy life a little more. Listen closer. It’s a hard switch to turn off when you have been that way all your life,’ she added.

Jana reminded her followers that celebrities were people with feelings too, and viewers should think twice before they carelessly criticise them over social media.

Her emotional posts comes after a wealth of social media posts criticising both her performance on the show and her relationship with Cornelis.

‘The constant bickering from Jana and Cor is beyond grating now,’ one person sniped.

‘At this point, I tense up every time Jana and Cor appear on screen. Chill out guys,’ a second user added.

Two of Jana’s children, daughters Emily, seven, and Jemima, five, were born via IVF and through an anonymous sperm donor.

She also has Cornelis, from her marriage to her first husband and former coach Chris Rawlinson.
