Jane Fonda appeared to criticize President Donald Trump at the Emmys when she likened him to the villain in her 1980 film 9 to 5.
The 79-year-old actress wowed in hot pink on stage next to her costars Lily Tomlin and Dolly Parton.
Fonda said while presenting Best Supporting Actor In A Drama: ‘Back in 1980, in that movie, we refused to be controlled by a sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot.’

They actresses appeared to take a jab at Trump with the comments when they said they refused to be controlled ‘by a sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot’ in 2017
Then Tomlin quipped: ‘And in 2017, we still refuse to be controlled by a sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot.’
Fonda followed: ‘That being said, tonight we’re here to recognize some men who conduct themselves with the utmost integrity.’
While they don’t name the president, many people interpreted as a direct jab at Trump.
In 9 to 5, the characters played by Fonda, Tomlin and Parton overthrow their sexist boss.
Fonda and Tomlin star in Grace and Frankie and were both up for Emmys tonight. They discussed the Women’s March on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert earlier this year.
