Jane Seymour, 73, urges older actresses to not ‘pretend to be 20’ while wearing a sexy chic dress at THR gala

Jane Seymour is praising the power of authenticity as she looks back on her successful career.

Speaking with People at The Hollywood Reporter’s Women in Entertainment Gala, she offered some of the wisdom she had picked up during her career.

‘Don’t take it for granted. It isn’t easy,’ she told the outlet on Wednesday. ‘The balance of how you come across and how you conduct yourself is huge, sadly.’

Seymour, 73, also pushed the importance of perseverance – as she advised older actresses to remain true to themselves and avoid pretending to be a twenty-something.

‘But also I’ve never given up. I now have my own series again, and I’m in my 70s,’ Jane, who currently stars on Harry Wild, continued.

‘So I say to women, “Don’t give up and be authentic.” Don’t pretend to be 20 when you’re 70. Be 70.’

At the event, Jane wowed in a sexy chic metallic dress that fell just above the knees and was combined with tan heels.

Jane was among a slew of stars attending the soiree, including Selena Gomez, who was being honored with the Equity in Entertainment Award.

It isn’t just the entertainment industry that is impressed by Selena but also Seymour.

‘I just saw Selena’s movie last night,’ the Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman star told People of Selena’s new film, Emilia Perez. ‘I was blown away. They were all incredible. There’s so many amazing young actresses… she’s being honored today for very good reason. To cross genres and to do both is fantastic.’

Accomplished actress Seymour currently stars on the Irish dramedy series Harry Wild, which has been airing since 2022.

Seymour is a past Emmy winner herself, as she won the honors for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Miniseries or a Special at the 1988 Primetime Emmys for her role as Maria Callas in Onassis: The Richest Man in the World.

She is also mother to six adult children: Jenni, 44, Katherine, 42, Sean, 39, Kalen, 56, and twins John and Kristopher, 29.

Seymour is dating musician John Zambetti, 75, who has performed for decades with the band The Malibooz.

The Somewhere in Time actress’s most recent romance prior to the musician was with movie producer David Green, as they dated for nearly a decade.

Seymour told The Times in April 2023 that Green, 76, had proposed to her in the past, but she felt exchanging vows with him ‘would be the most horrible thing in the world’ in terms of the dynamics of their relationship.

She added, ‘I just said I would never put a number on his name.’

Seymour has been wed four times in the past: to Michael Attenborough between 1971 to 1973; Geoffrey Planer between 1977 to 1978; David Flynn, from 1981 to 1992; and James Keach from 1993 to 2015.

She told The Times that despite the divorces, she remained ‘very, very close to all the men I was married to and every man I ever dated.

‘Every time I see someone I used to be involved with, even if it was for a short time, I’m close to them. You see, I think it’s hard to be with somebody who’s well-known and on the red carpet.’

Speaking with People in 2012, Seymour said that the most important lesson she took from her marriages was ‘to let go’ of painful things and ‘try to find a way to communicate and keep what was good in the relationship.’
