Janet Jackson says becoming a mother ‘is the most amazing thing she’s ever done’ and reveals strict rule about her son following in her footsteps in emotional Loose Women interview

Janet Jackson has insisted that becoming a mother ‘is the most amazing thing she’s ever done’ as she revealed the strict rules she has given her son.

The singer, 58, shares Eissa, seven, with her ex-husband, Wissam Al Mana. She and Wissam officially separated just a few months after he was born.

Janet, who remains private about her son, shared her determination to make sure he has a normal childhood after she and her famous brothers were thrust into the spotlight at a young age.

In emotional interview on Monday’s episode of Loose Women interview, she gave a rare insight into motherhood while speaking to Judi Love.

Janet amassed huge success since starting out as a child star in the 1970s and while she is ‘so thankful’, she has insisted she will not be putting Eissa on the same path.

She explained: ‘I’m so thankful that God allowed me to experience motherhood, because it didn’t have to be. I do a lot of reflection, it’s amazing because kids don’t realise what you go through as a parent or what you have going on the back burner.

‘It’s about him. If that’s what he wants, but I would say that he has to wait until he’s of age and still make sure that’s what he wants to do.

Whatever you do is very difficult. The industry is very tough, but he would have to wait until he is 18.’

Janet is the tenth and youngest child of the Jackson family and recalled her brothers, including Michael, becoming child stars as part of The Jackson 5.

Admitting that while she is ‘happy’ that her father pushed her to follow the same career path, she does wish she had had the chance to experience university.

She said: ‘I am happy because he obviously saw something that I didn’t, but I still wish I would’ve experienced college. Or, I should say university.

‘I always wanted to experience that. I was just a baby when my brothers were successful, so that’s all I’ve ever really known.

‘I had more of a childhood than my brothers did – I started when I was seven. So very young, at least I still got to, off and on, experience home life and go back to a regular school but my brothers really didn’t get to do that much at all.’
