  • Her comments come amid a worldwide wave of sexual harassment allegations

The boss of lingerie company Janet Reger has revealed she does not want her daughter to wear low-cut tops because they might attract unwanted attention.

Aliza Reger, 55, who is head of the firm set up by and named after her mother, has warned her 23-year-old daughter Annoushka that ‘some men don’t understand boundaries’.

The entrepreneur’s comments come amid a worldwide barrage of sexual harassment allegations that have rocked showbusiness and politics.

She told the Sunday Express: ‘I have always said to my daughter, and I will probably be trolled for this, “If you want to wear a low-cut top that is your business, you can do what you like.

‘”But if you elicit comments that you don’t like by doing so, you are inviting attention that you may not necessarily want”.’

Annoushka featured in an ad campaign for the firm’s line of swimwear in 2013.

Janet Reger set up her lingerie firm with her husband in 1966 with the aim of making underwear a sexy fashion statement rather than just a practical undergarment.

The business began in a small backstreet store but grew into an internationally-recognised brand. Aliza took over from the company following her mother’s death, aged 69, in 2005.

And she has revealed that her career in the fashion industry has seen her and her female colleagues subject to inappropriate comments on a regular basis in the past.

Aliza said: ‘We were confronted with it on a much more common basis. It wasn’t something out of the ordinary.’
