Japan’s Crown Prince Akishino and his wife Princess Kiko looked in high spirits as they arrived at a furniture workshop in Finland on Thursday. 

Akishino, 53, and Kiko, 52, visited a wood design studio and furniture manufacturer Nikari in the Fiskars village in Raasepori during the second day of their four-day tour.  

Donning a stylish black suit and tie, the brother of Japan’s new Emperor was all smiles as he examined the handy work of the furniture giant.

Meanwhile, his bemused wife watched on wearing a stylish coordinated tweed white skirt and cropped jacket.  

She accessorised with a black handbag and matching heels and kept her jewellery to a minimum, opting for a classic pearl necklace, studded earrings and a ring.

Her sleek back hair was tucked neatly behind her ear as she engaged in conversation, before being shown around. 

Accompanied by some of the workshop staff, the royals took a closer look at how the company’s chairs were made . 

They met Johanna Vuorio, the CEO of Nikari, who took them around her workshop. 

After visiting the workshop, they were hosted by the mayor of Raasepori, Ragnar Lundqvist for dinner. 

Earlier in the day, the royal duo visited Helsinki’s Central Library and toured its Oodi Collection, services for children and youth in Helsinki.

Akishino and Kiko arrived in Finland on Tuesday following a six day-long visit to Poland. 

On Tuesday they visited the Helsinki Cathedral with chaplain Maija Kuoppala and yesterday met with the Scandinavian country’s president Sauli Niinisto at the Presidential Summer Residence Kultaranta in Naantali.   

During their time in Finland, they will explore Finnish culture, landmarks, nature and healthcare throughout several engagements. 

The Finland tour marks 100 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
