- Woman said she had just left work after staring at a computer screen for hours
- She wondered if she was ‘done for’ and had hurt her eyes when she saw her son
- But apparently floating toddler was in fact only wearing camouflaged trousers
A Japanese mother has spoken of her shock at seeing her son apparently levitating after he greeted her when she finished a gruelling night shift.
The woman said that, having finally left work after staring at a computer screen for hours on end, she wondered if she had permanently damaged her eyes as her toddler appeared to be floating.
‘That’s it – I’m done for,’ the young mother wrote on Twitter under the handle ‘@nodowoyaku’.
The photograph she uploaded on Sunday – showing the youngster holding his grandmother’s hand while appearing to levitate – has attracted over 100,000 likes and over 60,00 retweets
But her overjoyed little boy had not in fact conquered gravity and learned to hover – he was simply wearing a pair of black-and-white trousers that blended almost perfectly into the path on which he was walking.

She said after posting it that she is still fooled by the illusion and struggles to see the camouflaged trousers.
‘From now on I will pay attention to selecting clothes,’ she wrote.

Many users expressed astonishment at how effective the camouflage was, with some joking that he would be ‘the perfect assassin’.
Other users focused on a different part of the image – the boy’s grandmother.
One wrote that her hands were ‘very beautiful’, while others joked that they were exceptionally smooth.
