Jared Kushner used private email for White House business

Senior White House advisor Jared Kushner has been found handling business communications via private email account, according to a new report released Sunday.

Several email messages were exchanged between President Trump’s son-in-law and fellow staffers regarding matters like ‘media coverage, event planning and other subjects,’ at least four reliable sources confirmed to Politico.

The 36-year-old father of three, who was appointed the White House role back in January, set up the separate account late last year, just months after a whirlwind of controversy erupted during the election after Hillary Clinton was accused of using a private email server while working as Secretary of State.

Kushner’s attorney, Abbe Lowell, confirmed details on the matter in a public statement Friday.

‘Mr. Kushner uses his White House email address to conduct White House business. Fewer than 100 emails from January through August were either sent to or returned by Mr. Kushner to colleagues in the White House from his personal email account,’ Lowe said.

Lowell backed Kushner, citing the private account was used mostly for casual purposes and his client typically only responds when other parties initiate.

‘These usually forwarded news articles or political commentary and most often occurred when someone initiated the exchange by sending an email to his personal rather than his White House address.’

According to the Politico report, Kushner exchanged messages between aides including ‘former chief of staff Reince Priebus, former chief strategist Steve Bannon, National Economic Council director Gary Cohn, and spokesman Josh Raffel.’

An investigation found no proof that sensitive or classified information has been released through the exchanges, while sources claim Kushner prefers to communicate via phone or text.

After the news surfaced, Kushner forwarded the private emails to his professional account after being ordered by government officials.

Reps to the White House advisor declined to comment on the matter Sunday.
