Just days after This Is Us star Ron Cephas Jones passed away from a pulmonary issue, his only child, daughter Jasmine Cephas Jones, remembered him in a touching tribute.

Ron – who played William Hill on the hit NBC series This Is Us – passed away last week at just 66-years of age.

His daughter Jasmine – a talented actress in her own right who currently stars on Blindspotting – took to Instagram on Wednesday to share a heartwarming tribute.

Along with her message she shared a slew of throwback snaps of her and her father throughout the years.

‘Grief. This one is a battle. I keep looking at my phone wanting to call you and wanting to hear your voice,’ she began.

‘You listened… you REALLY listened to me. You valued my opinion and you never judged me,’ Jasmine continued.

‘We all know you were a great actor but my god you were a damn good father. Your best gift to me as a father was giving me a safe space to just be me,’ she said.

‘Not afraid of my womanhood and all the pain and awkwardness and social anxiety and tough burdens that society can put on us. You understood that,’ she said. 

‘You led me. Mentored me. Gut laughed with me. Cried with me. Sang with me. Celebrated me. Studied with me. Cared for me… and loved me,’ she added.

‘There’s so much so say, but I don’t have many words. I just love you so much. I miss you beyond words,’ she continued. 

‘I still feel you here with me and I will carry you in my heart forever. -Your Bird,’ Jasmine concluded.

Her father’s passing was reported on August 19, with the actor’s representative releasing a statement.

‘Throughout the course of his career, his warmth, beauty, generosity, kindness and heart were felt by anyone who had the good fortune of knowing him,’ the statement read.

‘He began his career at the Nuyorican Poets Cafe and his love for the stage was present throughout his entire career, including his recent Tony nominated and Drama Desk Award winning performance for his role in Clyde’s on Broadway,’ the statement concluded.

His start at the Nuyorican Poets Cafe came in 1994, the same year he made his feature film debut in Murder Magic.

He also had roles in movies like Half Nelson and Across the Universe and TV shows like The Get Down, Mr. Robot and Luke Cage before landing This Is Us.

His final role will be as Elijah Muhammad in Genius: MLK/X, which is currently in post-production.
