Jasmine Yarbrough is denied entry to a show at Australian Fashion Week

Jasmine Stefanovic (née Yarbrough) was left red-faced after being turned away from a show at Afterpay Australian Fashion Week in Sydney on Thursday.

The 37-year-old shoe designer and wife of Today host Karl Stefanovic was denied entry by security after arriving late for the Indigenous Fashion Projects show.

Jasmine was spotted trying to negotiate with the security guard as she stood at the door in the rain alongside a female friend.

At one stage, the burly guard gestured towards what was taking place behind the door as a desperate Jasmine briefly checked her phone.

She was seen talking to the guard, before turning and looking hopelessly in the opposite direction.

According to an onlooker Jasmine and her friend arrived 10 minutes late for the show, which was scheduled to begin at 1.30pm.

She was held up at the COVID check-in area, with it being mandatory for all attendees to have their temperature taken before entering the premises.

‘She was only about 10 minutes late but they had closed the doors already while she was still checking in at the COVID temperature check area,’ a source told Daily Mail Australia.

‘It sounded like they asked the security at the door if the doors would re-open for the next show and they stood around for a few more minutes, but then they left.’

Jasmine was later seen at Australian Fashion Week and looked stylish in a camel-coloured trench coat, which she wore draped over her shoulders.

She also wore a pair of black ankle boots with white stitching from her Mara & Mine shoe label.

Jasmine launched Mara & Mine in 2013 alongside fashion stylist Tamara Ingham, and celebrity fans include Kendall Jenner, Margot Robbie and Cara Delevingne.

The mum-of-one wore a cream-coloured turtleneck knit dress with a belted waist underneath her coat, and accessorised with gold pendant earrings.

Jasmine is a mum to a one-year-old daughter, Harper, who she shares with Karl, 46, her husband of over two years.

The former model’s shoulder-length blonde hair was tied back in a chic bun at the nape of her neck.

After being cancelled last year due to the coronavirus pandemic, Afterpay Australian Fashion Week – primarily based at Sydney’s Carriageworks – is the first national fashion show to be held live anywhere in the world for more than a year.

The five-day event coincides with the release of an EY report, from High Fashion to High Vis, detailing the economic contribution of Australia’s fashion and textiles sector.

According to the Australian Fashion Council, which commissioned it, it’s the most comprehensive study of the fashion and textiles industry ever done in Australia.

It found the industry creates $7.2billion in export revenue for Australia, while the industry’s economic impact represents upwards of 1.5 per cent of the national economy.

The study also found the industry employs almost half a million Australians, more than mining and utilities, with women making up 77 per cent of the workforce.
