American Pie star Jason Biggs has said the infamous webcam scene from the 1999 flick would not be included in a film made in the post-#MeToo era.

During a Wednesday interview with Buzzfeed’s AM to DM, Biggs shared that the scene starring a scantily clad Shannon Elizabeth would not happen now.

‘It was a very specific time. It was right as the internet was starting,’ Biggs said. ‘We had that whole scene with the internet camera — which, by the way, would never get made now.’

He doesn’t realize he sent the live link to his entire school, including Nadia’s sponsor, prompting them to angrily send her back to Europe. None of the boys are punished for their actions.

‘It wouldn’t get made now and it couldn’t get made now,’ Biggs stated. ‘It would be unacceptable what that represents, but at the time I remember reading the script and reading that part and being shocked that there was cameras on computers! That’s what I took away from it originally!’

Biggs acknowledged that the internet has made conversations surrounding sex and consent, a lot more accessible.

‘People are having these conversations, as they should be,’ he said. ‘Again, the internet has changed everything, but specific to sex and teens, the conversation now is totally different now to what it was 20-plus years ago, so the art that’s made surrounding it needs to be totally different.’

Biggs did declare, however, that he does not regret the role for launching his career.

‘You know, we’re talking 21 years ago,’ he said. ‘That’s a full generation ago. Understandably it wouldn’t get made now, but I’m still proud of the movie and my involvement in it and people’s response to it.’

Last June, Elizabeth explained to Page Six that she tried to make the scene ‘no big deal’ when she was working on it as she filmed the scene with just a boom guy.

‘If this had come out after the #MeToo movement, there would definitely be a problem,’ she said. ‘I think that it would have gone down differently.’
