Jason Derulo reveals how he went from a pop star and reality TV judge to a successful entrepreneur with billion-dollar businesses – and his plans to expand in Australia

Jason Derulo has reflected on his surprising journey from an R&B star to a rising entrepreneur with a billion-dollar business.

The American singer, 33, released his motivational book Sing Your Name Out Loud earlier this week and in it he reveals the ingredients to his business success.

‘I’ve had way more failures than successes, but the successes reaped way more benefits than the failure reaped negativity,’ he told the Herald Sun.

‘All you really need is one big win, and everybody forgets the losses.’

The Voice Australia coach revealed that after losing $600,000 in unsuccessful ventures he finally lucked out.

The Florida native developed his Rocket Car Wash business, where customers pay a monthly subscription for an unlimited car wash pass.

‘The car wash business is working like crazy. It’s unbelievable and definitely taking over all of America,’ he said.

The Talk Dirty star even has plans to introduce the business Down Under in the near future.

He also has other ventures in the health, fitness, and sports fields, with one company valued at more than $2billion.

Derulo said he was always looking for his next opportunity so immediately said yes when asked to appear as a judge on the upcoming season of The Voice Australia.

‘Life has a crazy way of proving you wrong sometimes. You may think a chapter is over until another door opens.

‘That’s a great opportunity and I love Australia, I think this place is a magical place. Getting to spend some real time here is a huge win in itself,’ he said.

Fans of The Voice Australia can expect fireworks from new coach Jason when the singing competition goes to air later this year.

Jason says he’s out to find the next global superstar, and has already sent a strong message to fellow coaches Rita Ora, Guy Sebastian and Jessica Mauboy.

‘I’m super, super duper competitive, almost unhealthily competitive,’ the cocky musician told The Sunday Telegraph.

The Savage Love star has come to the Channel Seven show as a replacement for Keith Urban, who left the franchise at the end of last season.
