Jeff Goldblum has said he would work with Woody Allen again, despite long-running allegations the director sexually abused his adopted daughter.

The actor, 67, who had a role in Allen’s 1977 movie Annie Hall, told The i: ‘I think there is a presumption of innocence until proven guilty.’

Allen’s adopted daughter, Dylan Farrow, claimed in 1992 the Oscar winning director sexually abused her at the Connecticut home she shared with her mother, Allen’s partner Mia Farrow.

But Goldblum said he ‘enjoyed working with him [Allen] many years ago’ and ‘admires his body of work’, adding: ‘So I would consider working with him again, until I learned something more.’

A number of other actors, including Ellen Page, Greta Gerwig and Natalie Portman, have refused to work with the director ever again following the allegations.

Allen denies any wrongdoing and claims Farrow used Dylan as pawn amid their bitter split.

Goldblum said: ‘I think there is a presumption of innocence until proven guilty. I know I enjoyed working with him many years ago and I sat in with his band once too.

‘Even though I feel like this cultural shift [the #MeToo movement] is very, very positive and long overdue and I support it wholeheartedly and take it very seriously, I also admire his body of work.

‘So I would consider working with him again, until I learned something more.’

Scarlett Johansson, who has starred in three of Allen’s films, came out swinging in defense of the director in September.

She told The Hollywood Reporter: ‘I love Woody. I believe him, and I would work with him anytime’.

She added: ‘I see Woody whenever I can, and I have had a lot of conversations with him about it.

‘I have been very direct with him, and he’s very direct with me. He maintains his innocence, and I believe him.’

At the time of the alleged abuse, Dylan Farrow was just seven years old.

A subsequent court court case in 1993 concluded that the allegation of sexual abuse had not been proven, and Allen has maintained his innocent to this day.

He continued to enjoy critical and commercial success despite the highly-publicized trial, which was amplified by news that he had begun a consensual relationship with another of Mia Farrow’s adopted children, Soon-Yi Previn.

Previn was 21 when she began a relationship with Allen, who was then 56 years old.

However, Allen’s reputation has grown more complicated in recent years.

Dylan Farrow continues to stand by her allegations against Allen, writing a highly-publicized open letter in The New York Times in 2014, reiterating that the abuse took place.

And in the MeToo era, Allen has become a somewhat of a pariah with many actors who starred in his films now saying they regret doing so.

Allen’s latest film, A Rainy Day in New York, with Selena Gomez, Timothée Chalamet, Elle Fanning and Kelly Rohrbach, has been shelved in the US.

But Johansson says she has no regrets about working with Allen on three movies in the mid-2000s – Match Point (2005), Scoop (2006) and Vicky Cristina Barcelona (2008).
