Jenna Bush Hager shops for Christmas tree with daughters

Jenna Bush Hager ended her weekend on a festive note by going Christmas-tree shopping with her two daughters.

The presidential daughter and granddaughter turned 36 on Saturday, and the next day took Mila, four, and Poppy, two, to purchase and decorate their tree for the season.

Both girls helped decorate the tall fir once it was brought into their New York City residence, and proudly stood next to it once it was covered with ornaments from top to bottom.

Mila can be seen in the snap, which Jenna shared on her Instagram Story, on a stool, indicating she had just finished her decorating job.

Poppy, meanwhile, stood nearby, no doubt having helped her sister get the tree ready for the countdown to Christmas.

Earlier on Sunday, Jenna shared a snap of her family trip to the supermarket, where she is believed to have bought the tall tree.

‘Then. To end a fab weekend. This,’ she wrote a day after celebrating her 36th birthday.

The proud mother posted two additional snaps of trees all lit up for the holidays as she and her daughters enjoyed their outing.

On Saturday, Jenna and her twin sister Barbara received a tribute from their mother Laura, 71, who posted a photo of a younger George W. Bush, now also 71, with their two newborn daughters.

‘Thirty-six years ago today our precious girls were born,’ Laura wrote on Instagram.

‘They’ve brought joy to our lives every day since. Happy Birthday to Barbara and Jenna!’

Jenna also took some time out of her own birthday celebration to pay tribute to her twin sister Barbara, sharing touching photos of the sisters.

Some of the images also sees Barbara enjoying quality time with her nieces, Mila and Poppy.

‘Happiest Birthday to my partner in ALL for the last 36 years!’ Jenna wrote. ‘I can’t imagine my life without your enormous heart teaching me to love and your hand entwined in mine all these years. Thanks for sharing this wild and precious life with me! Love you, beast.’

The two sisters have been spending extra time together recently after going on a joint book tour.

In fact, the twins were spending so much time together that they even began dressing similarly.

For their appearance on The Tonight Show earlier this month, Jenna donned a forest green off-the-shoulder top and matching pants, while Barbara opted for an eye-catching strapless dress the color of red poppies.

The ensembles couldn’t be more different, but later that week the sisters switched up their looks, with Jenna rocking a bright red dress and Barbara modeling the subdued shade of green to the Miami Book Fair.

The sisters have been on the road promoting their new memoir, Sisters First: Stories from Our Wild and Wonderful Life, for nearly a month now.

The two are as close as can be, so it’s not too shocking that they started to mimic each other’s styles.

On the Tonight Show, Jenna wowed in her monochromatic green ensemble, which she paired with silver pumps featuring Lucite heels. Meanwhile, Barbara opted for strappy nude stilettos when accessorizing her simple, yet elegant dress.

‘We’ve been on this book tour which has been so fun,’ Jenna told The Tonight Show host. ‘The first hotel we checked into they were like, “Okay we have your rooms Miss Bush [and] Mrs. Hager, and I was like, “Oh no, no no. We just need one key. We’ll be staying together.”‘

When asked what inspired them to write their book, Jenna recalled how she and Barbara shared a bed together the night of the 2016 election because her husband, Henry Hager, was out of town.

‘We realized how lucky we are to have each other, that women need to start, or to continue, to have each other’s backs,’ she said.

‘My sissy has always been that person for me, and if we celebrated sisterhood in whatever form it comes in, whether it’s a blood sister or a friend or colleague… then maybe we could get to a place where we feel a little bit better about the state of women.’
