She said: ‘It’s so funny how much we’ve got to know each other – like the twitches in each other’s faces.

‘You absolutely can identify when one’s gone or about to go or go blank.’

She added: ‘I have to say – that the whole set, well we have nothing. We have our socks and our clothes and we have each other.

‘It’s been great – the rehearsal process, the whole experience has been really really fun. Really funny great play to explore as well.’

Aidan, 39, added the pair had been rehearsing for five weeks now.

Comparing the process of working on a play to a TV show or movie he described it as ‘a joy’.

‘We rehearsed for five weeks and you don’t really get to do that when you do TV and film’, he said.

He added: ‘You sort of show up on the day and if you’re lucky maybe the day before or that morning you might do a rehearsal – but this is a real joy really to do it for 5 weeks.’

The pair are starring together in Lemons, Lemons, Lemons, which debuted on the West End over the weekend.

The play, written by Sam Steiner, will be on-stage for a nine-week run and sees Jenna play Bernadette while Aidan portrays Oliver.

The official synopsis reads: ‘”Let’s just talk until it goes”. You’re going to speak more than 123 million words in your lifetime. What will you do when they run out?

‘Lemons Lemons Lemons Lemons Lemons is a tender and funny rom-com about what we say, how we say it, and what happens when we can’t say anything anymore’.

According to The Telegraph, Lemons Lemons Lemons explores a young couple’s response to a dystopian world in which words are rationed by ‘hush laws’.

In the play, the rule-abiding lawyer Bernadette meets and moves in with rebellious musician Oliver as the hush laws become increasingly harsh.

Jodie Rourke, the director of the show, admitted to the publication that these kinds of laws would not happen in the real world.

She said: ‘Obviously, those kinds of laws would be totally unenforceable. So it asks you to play along and consider how relationships survive under extreme circumstances.

‘It’s not a pandemic play, but it will resonate with people who found the cracks in their relationships widening during lockdown.’
