Jenna Jameson shares keto tips that helped her lose 80 POUNDS

Former porn star Jenna Jameson — who has become a keto diet advocate after losing a whopping 80 lbs. — has offered up more tips for people attempting the lifestyle change. 

The 45-year-old often promotes her healthy lifestyle and strict eating habits on Instagram to help other people looking to lose weight. 

Her recent recommendations involved how people can follow their diet when eating out with friends or family.

‘Let’s talk eating out,’ Jenna wrote at the beginning of her post.  ‘When I first began my weight loss journey, I avoided eating out as much as possible. I felt if I wasn’t making the food, there could be hidden sugars or starches.’ 

Although Jenna recommended for people to avoid eating out at the beginning of their diet, she didn’t think the restaurant option was not allowed when following keto. 

Jenna learned how to eat out with her family while still sticking to her low-carb diet.  

‘When I go out to eat with my family here are some of the things I order…You can NEVER go wrong with steak,’ she said. 

‘Add a sautéed baby broccoli or non starchy veg and you’re golden! Grilled fish is a perfect choice also!’ 

Another recommendation included ordering a Caesar salad, without the croutons, and then topping the greens with shrimp for extra protein.   

‘I’ve gotten so good at scanning menus for keto friendly dishes it’s now second nature,’ Jenna said. 

Included with the post was a before and after picture of Jenna since she started the low-carb, high-fat diet.

The mother-of-three started her weight loss journey over a year ago after gaining weight while pregnant with her two-year-old daugher Batel Lu. One year after giving birth, Jenna was struggling to lose the pounds. 

She then discovered how the keto diet worked best for her body to shed off the weight, helping her go from 187 lbs. to 107 lbs.  

Recently, Jenna shared why before pictures, which she often shares on social media, were so important to her weight loss journey. 

‘I cannot stress enough the importance of taking “before pics,”‘ she wrote at the time. ‘I HATED SEEING THESE PICTURES UNTIL I STARTED SEEING PROGRESS! 

‘So if you are beginning your journey or even thinking about #keto please take my advice and take jumping off pictures!!!! 

‘Next step is to clean out your kitchen of garbage processed foods and inform your family that the household is building healthy bodies!’ 

Jenna also often shares recipe ideas for followers who are looking for options when attempting the keto diet in their own lives. 

While Jenna swears by the keto diet — as do several other celebrities and fitness bloggers — the hyper-restrictive diet also has its critics.

The keto diet works by putting the body in ketosis and making it necessary to burn fat for energy instead of glucose, which some dietitians and nutritionists say can be good to some degree — but many keto fanatics take it too far.

Jillian Michaels made headlines earlier this year for speaking out against keto. She pointed out on her blog that ketosis is ‘considered a state of medical emergency,’ so it can’t sustain that for long without negative side-effects.

‘I don’t understand,’ she said in a video for Women’s Health magazine. ‘Like, why would anyone think this is a good idea? 

‘Your cells, your macro molecules, are literally made up of protein, fat, carbohydrates, nucleic acids. When you do not eat one of the three macro nutrients — those three things I just mentioned — you’re starving yourselves.

‘Those macro nutrients serve a very important purpose for your overall health and well being. Each and every one of them.’ 

When speaking to DailyMail.com, Jillian reiterated her comments stating most diets do no work for her clients. 

‘I’d say it’s never necessary,’ Jillian said about undergoing any diet, adding: ‘I’ve taken the most unhealthy individuals with every obesity-related, health-related condition and reversed it with common sense, clean eating and a reasonable, consistent fitness regimen.’ 

But despite all the critics, Jenna continues to defend the keto diet and its benefits in her own life.
