A photo shoot for a posh architectural magazine signaled the end of the marriage of Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux, DailyMail.com can reveal.
The glamorous couple was expected to appear in a high end shoot with Architectural Digest promoting their luxury designer home in the Trousdale Estates, Bel Air, California.
The mansion is up for sale and the ‘pocket listing price is $75 million’, which means the potential buyer must have a net worth of at least $200 million to even view the home.
When the magazine’s excited editorial team and photographer arrived at the property towards the end of last year, they were surprised to discover only Aniston, 49, would be taking part, a source has revealed.
What’s more the source, who was involved with the shoot, says that signs of a fractured relationship were plain to see.
Very little of Theroux’s belongings were on display and Aniston impressed on the team of the need to portray that her and her husband were in a happy marriage.
And within weeks of the magazine being published, the glossy facade of their marriage crumbled and on Thursday it emerged the couple had split.
Signs of marriage troubles were evident when Jennifer Aniston posed for an architectural magazine (pictured) without Justin Theroux by her side, a source told DailyMail.com
Aniston and Theroux announced on Thursday they had split up after two years of marriage at the end of 2017. She was seen for the first time since news of the sudden breakup, arriving to Sony Studios on Thursday
A source said: ‘There was barely anything showing that Justin resided there. There was hardly any photos of the happy couple, little trace of a man living there’. Pictured: Theroux in New York City on Monday
Last push? Jennifer and Justin were last pictured together during a holiday in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, back on January 1
The article showed Aniston proudly posing in various rooms of the house she bought for $21 million in 2011, minus her husband.
The Friends star cut a solitary figure on the cover of the magazine’s March edition while the opening lines of the article gushed: ‘High above Los Angeles, Jennifer Aniston crafts a scene of pure domestic bliss with husband Justin Theroux, a spectacular mid century house, and a trio of very happy dogs.’
In another passage Aniston, 49, explained to the publication: ‘I look around at my husband and my dogs and our home, and there’s nowhere else I want to be.’
But the source told DailyMail.com that all was not as it seemed.
The source explained: ‘The AD shoot really sparked the beginning of the end of the truth coming out.
‘That was one of the most bizarre experiences for the editorial team given that they were expecting to do a shoot with Jennifer and Justin at their marital home.
‘But when they attended the house it soon became clear that it was entirely her place and not his.
‘Sure there were a few items around, but there was barely anything showing that Justin resided there.
‘There was hardly any photos of the happy couple on the walls, little trace of a man living there at all.’

The source continued: ‘It was all quite obvious, but then Jennifer was happy to act as if they were a happy couple and everything was great.
‘Then it was impressed on the team to include the lines that they are happily married and together in the story’s editorial.
‘When the magazine came out people were asking the team about the marriage, but everyone was sworn to secrecy.
‘There were some in the office who felt that the story actually raised more questions about the couple, given he was not in it.’
In the AD piece Aniston was quoted as saying of the decor that she used designers for her home, but added: ‘Justin definitely wanted to be involved, so there was a bit of a learning curve for me on how to include another voice in the design process.
‘For instance, I figured out that immediately saying ‘No!’ to any suggestion is not the most collaborative move.’
The source added: ‘The magazine’s pieces are all about celebrating celebrities, their lives, families and homes.
‘Whether it was meant to humor or not, that sentence was one of the oddest we have ever included in the magazine.
‘Justin had little input in that house, and perhaps little interest.’
The article explains the house is a home for the couple, who began dating in 2011 and have been married for two years, and they spend lazy Sundays with friends and family by the pool.
Separated: Jennifer Aniston reportedly stopped regularly spending time with Justin Theroux several months ago, and was last photographed by TMZ at his New York City home in October
Sources tell DailyMail.com that the couple had been virtual strangers in the past 12 months with Theroux spending most of his time in New York, a city Aniston had left to escape the glare of the paparazzi and find privacy in a gated community
‘We put out a mean taco bar, and the chili’s pretty good in the colder months,’ Aniston said.

Another source, who is connected to Netflix, which is producing Theroux’s new TV show Manic, went further: ‘It’s an open secret that Justin has been living in New York pretty much since they got married.
‘His work has taken him there, but in truth his social life is there too. Sure he would go back to see Jen, but it was certainly no conventional marriage.
‘Justin just seemed focused on being the best actor he could be and creating content – in truth he is married to his career.
‘The last year especially he had not returned to LA that much. No-one can even remember him mentioning Jen’s name or talking about his marriage.
‘Among some of the cast, people felt that they were living a Hollywood sham marriage.
‘He is just totally focused on his work and all about his next project, whether it was acting or writing.’

‘If I wasn’t an actress, I’d want to be a designer’: Aniston raved about re-designing her stunning home (pictured in Smartwater ad)
The source added: ‘Justin seemed to revel in the creative buzz in that town and the creatives in his social circle.’
‘Jen is and will always be an LA girl. She loves the climate, compared to the high and low temperatures of NYC.’

The Friends actress added her personalized touches to the house with the help of a team of interior designers after purchasing the 1965 home, which was designed by renowned architect A. Quincy Jones.
She said she found a second calling in interior decorating.
‘If I wasn’t an actress, I’d want to be a designer. I love the process,’ The Good Girl actress told the magazine.
‘There’s something about picking out fabrics and finishes that feeds my soul.’
