Ryan Murphy’s upcoming Netflix show The Watcher has just landed another addition to its cast, Jennifer Coolidge.

The 60-year-old actress has signed on to join Naomi Watts and Bobby Cannavale in the upcoming series, according to Deadline.

There is no indication who Coolidge may be playing, though production is already under way.

The follows a married couple, played by Watts and Cannavale, who move into their dream home in New Jersey.

Their dream quickly turns into a nightmare when they receive a series of bizarre letters from someone known only as The Watcher.

The show is based on the true story of what’s become known as the Watcher house in Westfield, New Jersey.

A couple bought the home in 2014 for $1.4 million, and started receiving these bizarre letters.

They ended up selling the home in 2019 for $959,000 at quite a substantial loss.

Netflix secured the rights for the project back in December 2018, in a package which included a 2018 article by Reeves Wiedeman in New York Magazine’s The Cut.

Ryan Murphy co-created the series with frequent collaborator Ian Brennan (Glee, The Politician, Scream Queens).

Murphy and Brennan will executive produce alongside Eric Newman (Narcos), Bryan Unkeless (The Hunger Games) and Catfish creators Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman, the latter two also directing the pilot episode. 

Coolidge most recently played Tanya McQuoid in HBO’s The White Lotus and she’s set to return for the second season.

She also voiced Dakota’s Mom in 10-Year-Old Tom and Stucky in I Heart Arlo animated TV shows.

The actress also has new movies Single All The Way, Shotgun Wedding and We Have a Ghost in post-production.

She is also set to return as Paulette Parcelle in Legally Blonde 3.
