Jennifer Garner’s golden retriever Birdie deserves a round of a-paws for nailing viral ‘Hands In’ challenge in adorable clip

Jennifer Garner took to Instagram to show off her dog Birdie completing a viral challenge on Thursday.

The 52-year-old actress — who is trying to help ex-husband Ben Affleck save his marriage to Jennifer Lopez — posted an adorable video of her furry friend nailing the ‘Hands In’ social media trend.

Similar to a team getting ready to call a group cheer, pet owners bring their hands together in front of their cats and dogs to see if they will join in on the challenge.

The 13 Going on 30 star wrote ‘Trying the “hands in” challenge with Birdie,’ as she and an offscreen male reached their hands out.

Her furry friend understood almost immediately and put his paw in on the ‘first try,’ making Garner laugh.

‘Did you see, Birdie? Yeah, you did,’ the ex-wife of Ben Affleck said to her pooch. ‘I mean, first time.’

She rocked a gray T-shirt that read ‘Once Upon a Farm, Save the Children,’ and a pair of light washed jeans.

Her brunette locks were swept up into a messy bun with a few strands let loose, framing her face.

Garner went barefaced in the video, showing off her natural beauty as she appeared to be in good spirits during the clip.

The starlet shared the post to her 16.2 million followers and jokingly captioned the silly clip, ‘I had much less success with the puppy.’

Fans went wild in the comments penning their support for the golden retriever’s adorable talent.

A top commenter said, ‘She’s like…. Come on… I’ve been waiting.’

‘My dog did it a bunch of times but when we started recording she refused,’ one fan joked in the comments.

Birdie, who is a certified therapy dog, likely had an upper paw in the challenge as he is trained in order to visit the Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles.

Philip Tedeschi, co-director of the Institute for Animal Sentience and Protection, also explained that it comes down your furry friend’s instinct:

‘Dogs have the ability, much like children do early in life, to mimic or mirror what they’re observing,’ he said explaining why dogs may understand the concept.

‘Many dogs are trained early on to do things like shake hands, so I would suspect that a lot of dogs see it as a fairly familiar behavior,’ he finished.
