Lopez signed on to star in The Mother back in February, with the project said to be in the same ‘spirit’ of Luc Besson’s classic 1994 film The Professional starring Jean Reno and Natalie Portman in her feature film debut.

The Mother follows Lopez’s character, a female assassin who comes out of years of hiding to protect the daughter she gave up several years earlier, while also trying to flee from several dangerous men.

Lucy Paez (Silencio) has come aboard to play the daughter, with Omari Hardwick playing an FBI agent, said to be an ally to Lopez’s character.
