Jeremy Allen White gushes over his ‘beautiful and intuitive’ co-star Ayo Edebiri after she made her directorial debut on The Bear season three

Jeremy Allen White gushed about Ayo Edebiri making her directorial debut on their series The Bear on Wednesday while attending its season three premiere in Los Angeles.

‘It was the best. I wasn’t acting in that first day of hers, I was on set just like hanging out… I can say she did a beautiful job. She was very confident, I mean everybody knows how smart she is,’ Jeremy, 33, told Variety during the premiere of the FX on Hulu series at the El Capitan Theater in Hollywood.

‘She’s a beautiful actress and a very intuitive actress. And I think she’s a very beautiful and intuitive director as well,’ he added.

Ayo, 28, told Deadline about how she reacted emotionally to directing her first episode.

‘I cried. It was written very beautifully,’ Ayo said of the first time she read the script. ‘I was just so moved by it and really really touched that Chris [Storer] had me in mind to direct it.’

‘I could see it as soon as I read it,’ Ayo added.

Ayo directed the sixth episode of season three titled Napkins.

Season three of The Bear premiered on Thursday on Hulu with all 10 episodes available for streaming.

Christopher Storer created The Bear and has written and directed the vast majority of its episodes.

Jeremy portrays talented chef Carmen ‘Carmy’ Berzatto and Ayo plays Sydney Adamu, his gifted protégé.

They recently denied that their characters were headed for romance.

When asked at a press conference on Monday if viewers could expect their characters professional relationship to turn romantic, Jeremy and Ayo both said ‘no.’

‘There was no talk in the rooms about any romantic implications [between Carmy and Sydney],’ White said, according to Vanity Fair.

Jeremy and Ayo took home top honors at the 2024 Golden Globes, SAG Awards, Critics’ Choice Awards and Emmys for their outstanding performances in the hit FX series.

Season three will once again follow Carmy, Sydney and Richie (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) as the unlikely trio ‘do what it takes to elevate The Bear, their beef stand turned fine dining establishment, to the highest level, all while doing their best just to stay in business.

‘Their quest for culinary excellence will propel the crew to new levels and stress the bonds that hold the restaurant together,’ the description from FX continued.

‘Our chefs have learned that every second counts, but this season we’ll find out if they have what it takes to make it to tomorrow.’
